# Arabic Sofa and Majlis Floor Seating in Hungary

Budapest has six months, April to September, with average highs between 18°C (64°F) and 32°C (90°F), and about two in three people in Hungary live in a detached house, so an Arabic sofa in Hungary often starts as a living room that opens onto a terrace. ## Which layout fits a Hungarian house with a terrace door, and which a flat?

In a house, start at the terrace door. A U along the three closed walls keeps it clear, so a guest walks in without crossing the seating. ## How do you measure a living room that opens onto a terrace?

1. Begin at the terrace door: note which way it swings, and stop measuring that wall where the open door would block a seat.
2. Mark radiators, floor vents and sockets on the sketch; vent and socket cut-outs can be built into a majlis base.
3. Write whether each figure is a wall length or a seat length, because on an L the second run loses one seat depth, about 70 cm (27.5 in), to the corner.
4. Take one photo from each corner, and one from the terrace looking in.

## Which months suit floor seating on a Hungarian terrace?

Budapest station normals put the average July high at about 29°C (84°F). April through September gives six months with highs between 18°C (64°F) and 32°C (90°F). That is a long run of evenings for coffee outside.

## Which papers travel with a Hungarian order, and how are the boxes tracked?
