# Our Motto, in Five Commitments

Oriental Sofa's motto is to bring traditional floor seating into today's homes without cutting corners, and the atelier holds itself to it through five commitments a buyer can check. Two of them happen before any foam is cut, one before the set ships, one at payment, and one long after delivery, when a spare cover or cushion is needed.

## Where does the Oriental Sofa motto come from?

The motto began as a short list of values the [Oriental Sofa atelier](https://orientalsofa.com/about/) set for itself: comfort, sets with a story behind them, tradition next to modern design, quality, variety and pieces that last. Words like these are easy to print and hard to check, so each commitment below is tied to a step in the order that you can see for yourself.

## Commitment 1: we draw your room before we cut anything

Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

Every seat, backrest and armrest appears on the drawing with its own measurements, so a missing corner piece or a seat that blocks a door shows up on paper first. Seat height is settled at this stage too, from 4 in (10 cm) for traditional low seating to 16 in (40 cm) for chair height.

Nothing goes to the cutting table until you approve this drawing, because a change is far easier to make on paper than in foam.

## Commitment 2: we confirm every measurement and fabric code

Before production starts, the team goes back over the model, the fabric code, the seat height and each wall measurement with you, line by line. A drawing can be right while one number in it is wrong, and this second check is where that gets caught.

Variety is part of the same check. A pattern you like is rarely tied to one build: most designs can sit on a wooden base with wooden backrests or go without, and a wood-frame design can be remade entirely in foam.

## Commitment 3: you see the finished pieces before they ship

Before packing, the finished pieces of a custom set are arranged in your layout at the workshop and given numbers, which you follow when you unpack.

Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship.

This is the point to raise anything that differs from the plan you signed off, while the pieces are still in Istanbul.

## Commitment 4: we never ask for card details in a chat

We never ask for card numbers, security codes or one-time passcodes by chat, email or phone.

Payment goes through a secure payment link instead, and an extra agreed after the order gets a separate link of its own.

## Commitment 5: spare covers and pieces stay available

A single seat, a backrest, replacement foam or a covers-only set can be ordered at any time after delivery. Send the team a photo of the piece you want to match and ask.

Durability, one of the values the motto started with, is easier to keep when one worn cushion can be replaced on its own instead of the whole set.

### Do the five commitments apply to ready-made floor sofa sets?

The payment and spare-parts commitments apply to every order. The layout drawing, the line-by-line confirmation and the photos of finished pieces belong to custom orders, because a standard set in a listed size and color is not cut to a particular room.

### Do the commitments change with the country I order from?

No. The five commitments are the same wherever the set is going. What your country does affect is the delivery arrangement and any import charges, and your quote lists those separately.

### Can I choose a fabric color that is not in the photos?

Yes. Plain fabrics are chosen by their number on the color card, not from the photos, so any shade on the card can be used even if no finished set has been shot in it yet. The number you choose is the same code the team confirms with you before production.
