Four lengths run from 47 in (120 cm) for a reading corner to 83 in (210 cm) for a full wall, each with back and lumbar pillows and a choice of six cover colors. ## Questions buyers ask ### What sizes does the Moroccan floor sofa come in, and which pieces come with each length? Four lengths are offered: 47 in (120 cm), 59 in (150 cm), 71 in (180 cm) and 83 in (210 cm); size means length, not thickness. Shorter sizes take two backrests and one small pillow, longer ones a third backrest and a second pillow. Covers are handmade in cotton, with no rug. ### Is the foam vacuum-compressed for shipping, and will the cushions look like the photos when they arrive? Foam cushions are vacuum-compressed and packed in groups, so the seat and its pillows can travel in separate packages. After unpacking, the foam regains its shape within a few hours and settles fully over a day or two. ## How do the four Atlas Cotton lengths differ in pieces and pillow sizes? | Length | Seat cushion | Back pillows | Lumbar pillows | Pieces | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 47 in (120 cm) | 47 × 27.5 × 6 in (120 × 70 × 15 cm) | 2, each 23.5 × 16 in (60 × 40 cm) | 1, 19.5 × 12 in (50 × 30 cm) | 4 | | 59 in (150 cm) | 59 × 27.5 × 6 in (150 × 70 × 15 cm) | 2, each 29.5 × 16 in (75 × 40 cm) | 1, 19.5 × 12 in (50 × 30 cm) | 4 | | 71 in (180 cm) | 71 × 27.5 × 6 in (180 × 70 × 15 cm) | 3, each 23.5 × 16 in (60 × 40 cm) | 2, each 19.5 × 12 in (50 × 30 cm) | 6 | | 83 in (210 cm) | 83 × 27.5 × 6 in (210 × 70 × 15 cm) | 3, each 27.5 × 16 in (70 × 40 cm) | 2, each 19.5 × 12 in (50 × 30 cm) | 6 | Each couch arrives as one seat cushion and its pillows, nothing more. Poufs, rugs and the other Atlas weaves are gathered under [Moroccan floor seating](https://orientalsofa.com/moroccan-floor-seating/), where a whole room can be planned around one couch. ## How does a low Moroccan couch change the way a room is used? In many Moroccan homes guests settle close to the floor around a tray of tea, in a salon lined with low seats. Atlas Cotton takes one piece of that idea: a single couch for one wall, 6 in (15 cm) high and 27.5 in (70 cm) deep. I find that a low seat slows a visit down in a good way, because people lean back, sit closer and stay for the second pot. > A room is ready when the first guest slips off their shoes and decides to stay. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build. If standing up from a low seat is hard for someone at home, our page on [how seat thickness changes the height](https://orientalsofa.com/guides/floor-sofa-thickness-and-seat-height/) compares seats up to 16 in (40 cm). ## Where does an Atlas Cotton couch work best in a home? The 47 in (120 cm) couch fits a reading corner or the space under a window, while the 71 in (180 cm) and 83 in (210 cm) lengths give a guest room its main seat. Past 83 in (210 cm), two couches end to end usually look calmer than one long piece, and each stays light enough to carry. On the next wall, a second couch begins about 27.5 in (70 cm) from the corner, clear of the first seat. In many homes the corner end goes to the eldest guest, so that is where I would put the extra lumbar pillow. ## What sets the flat cotton weave apart from the other Atlas couches? Atlas Cotton is the flat-woven member of the line: a tight cotton cover with fine lines, where its [deep-pile Shag Wool sibling](https://orientalsofa.com/urun/atlas-shag-wool-moroccan-style-floor-couch/) is soft and tufted and the stripe version carries woven bands. It comes in Beige, Gray, Green, Terracotta Orange, Red and Mustard Yellow, and Red is chosen from the color card. Beige and Gray stay close to the cream rugs that gave the Beni Ourain style its name, while the warmer four suit plain walls. Before choosing between two shades, ask for the cover to be filmed in daylight. ## What is fixed on the Atlas Cotton, and what can you choose? - Fixed: the four lengths, the 27.5 in (70 cm) depth and the 6 in (15 cm) seat, which are not made to custom sizes. - Your choice: the length, one of six colors, and how many couches. ## Flat weave, pile, lumbar pillow: what do the terms on this page mean? - Flat weave: tightly woven threads with no raised tufts, so the fine lines stay crisp. - Pile: the raised tufts of a shaggy cover. - Beni Ourain-style: a cream-ground look with fine dark lines, borrowed from wool rugs of the Middle Atlas mountains. - Lumbar pillow: the small, long pillow in front of the back pillows that supports the lower back. ## Frequently asked questions ### What if none of the four Atlas Cotton lengths matches my wall? The set lengths and the 6 in (15 cm) seat are not made to order, so choose the length that leaves a little floor at each end, or set two couches end to end. A seat cut to the exact wall calls for a floor sofa set. ### Does the Atlas Cotton couch need a wall behind it? The back and lumbar pillows have no frame of their own and rest against the wall, so the couch is planned along one. In the middle of a room the pillows would have nothing to lean on. ### Why does the 59 in (150 cm) Atlas Cotton couch have wider back pillows than the 71 in (180 cm) one? Pillow width follows the count: two pillows share the 59 in (150 cm) seat, so each is 29.5 × 16 in (75 × 40 cm), while three share the 71 in (180 cm) seat at 23.5 × 16 in (60 × 40 cm) each. The longer couch gives more, slightly narrower places to lean. ## Related pages - [Atlas Stripe Couch](https://orientalsofa.com/urun/atlas-stripe-moroccan-style-floor-couch/) - [Atlas Diamond Couch](https://orientalsofa.com/urun/atlas-diamond-moroccan-style-floor-couch/) - [Star Royal Jalsah](https://orientalsofa.com/urun/star-royal-jalsah/)
