# Elegance Arabic Jalsah for Long Cream-and-Gold Halls

The Elegance Arabic Jalsah is a cream and gold majlis hall layout for rooms over twice as long as they are wide, with plain cream seats along the walls and a gold-patterned runner between the runs. A hall 157 in (400 cm) wide keeps a corridor of about 98 in (250 cm) between seats 29.5 in (75 cm) deep.

## Questions buyers ask

### My room is very large. Do you make majlis seating for big halls with long walls?

Large majlis for big rooms and halls are made to order regularly, including layouts that run 591 in (1500 cm) of wall or more. The designer splits long runs into modules that fit each wall section and meet cleanly at the corners.

### My room isn't a perfect rectangle: the corners aren't square and there's a column. Can a majlis still fit?

Irregular rooms are measured the same way: take each wall separately, photograph every corner, and mark columns, bay windows and angled sections on a paper sketch. Because each piece is cut to order, seats can be shortened, angled or notched around a column or a heater.

The quote covers seats, backrests, armrests and pillows with their covers and filling; the runner, star table and lit ceiling in the photos are styling. ## How is a long hall split into seats?

Each wall is divided into equal seats no longer than about 75 in (190 cm), so a 134 in (340 cm) run becomes two of 67 in (170 cm). I begin at the corners, because the corner piece takes room on both walls.

Two facing runs 29.5 in (75 cm) deep use 59 in (150 cm) of the floor, so a hall 157 in (400 cm) wide keeps about 98 in (250 cm) for the runner and the path. Seat depth can shrink to about 19.5 in (50 cm)–23.5 in (60 cm) for a tight hall or grow to about 33.5 in (85 cm) on request.

## Which seat height suits long evenings in the hall?

Long gatherings with older guests call for 12 in (30 cm) or more on my plans; a floor-style hall keeps 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm). A wooden base is built only at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm). Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

## What can change besides the cream and gold?

Cream and gold are a starting point: any solid shade on our color card can replace the cream, gold details are optional, and the cover can be Turkish velvet, chenille or linen-look cloth, all indoor upholstery. Similar light schemes sit among the ivory, cream and pearl majlis designs.

## Can the hall's walls be dressed in the seat fabric?

We can also supply the seat fabric by the meter; ask us for it with the hall plan. It comes on 55 in (140 cm) rolls, so walls and ceilings are covered in strips of that width, not one wide panel.

> A buyer in Illinois wanted a fully dressed majlis hall: floor seating 8 in (20 cm) thick plus matching fabric to cover the walls and ceiling. The walls ran about 1378 in (3500 cm) in total and stood 118 in (300 cm) high, and the ceiling measured about 787 in (2000 cm) by 197 in (500 cm). Our team explained that the fabric comes in rolls 55 in (140 cm) wide and cannot be made as single panels several meters wide, so the buyer planned to hang it in strips himself. The final order was thirteen seat cushions, twenty-six backrests, three corner backrests, thirteen armrests, three ottomans and several dozen meters of fabric. Later he added about 1076 sq ft (100 m²) of matching carpet and sent videos of the finished hall, inside and out.

## What goes on the sketch before you ask for a layout?

1. Tape both long walls at floor level from one corner to the other, then the hall's width.
2. Mark doors with their swing, columns and floor vents, measured from the nearest corner.
3. Photograph the hall from each end.

The design team turns those numbers into a seat-by-seat drawing. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

### How many guests does a hall-length Elegance layout seat?

Plan on two to three people per 75 in (190 cm) seat piece, so about 591 in (1500 cm) of seating holds sixteen to twenty-four guests. The layout drawing shows the final count.

### Are the runner rug and star table part of the Elegance quote?

Both are styling in the photographed hall. The quote covers the seating with covers and filling; rugs and tables are separate add-ons, quoted if you ask with the hall plan.

### Can an Elegance hall have seating on just one long wall?

A single straight run works, with an armrest at each open end. Floor seating leans on a wall, so a run that has to stand out in the room needs a wooden base and backrest of its own.
