# Gray Arabic Yemeni Jalsa in Charcoal with Carved Gold Armrests

The Gray Arabic Yemeni Jalsa is a charcoal and gold Yemeni jalsa with dark gray seats cut to your walls and carved gold armrest panels closing each run. The all-foam build has no frame or springs, while the framed build sets the seats on MDF and wood at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm) depending on the model.

## Questions buyers ask

### How high can your majlis seating go? Can it sit like a regular sofa instead of low on the floor?

The highest all-foam majlis sits 16 in (40 cm) from floor to seat top, about the seat height of a regular sofa, with lower options at 12 in (30 cm), 8 in (20 cm) and 4 in (10 cm). Models on a wooden base sit at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm).

### What wood is used in a framed majlis, and what should I ask when comparing quotes?

Framed majlis designs use an MDF panel for the decorative backrest, which carries the trim and metal details, while fully wooden models add a wooden base under the seat cushions. When comparing quotes, ask for the wood type and thickness, the foam and the fabric of the exact model.

## Which parts are cut for a charcoal jalsa?

| Part | Size | How many |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Seat module | Up to 75 in (190 cm) long, about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep | Per wall, in equal lengths |
| Backrest | 37.5 × 16 × 4 in (95 × 40 × 10 cm) | Two over each full-length seat |
| Corner backrest | 23.5 × 16 × 4 in (60 × 40 × 10 cm) | One where two runs meet |
| Carved armrest panel | Sized to the seat height | At the open ends of the runs |
| Armrest bolster | 10 × 10 × 21.5 in (25 × 25 × 55 cm) on raised builds | Spaced along the runs |

In the pictures is a related gray and charcoal room whose black armrests are strapped in gold; on this design, carved panels finished in gold end each run.

## Carved panel, wooden base or all foam: how is it built?

There are two builds. The all-foam one is foam and fabric only, with no frame or springs inside. It is usually made at 12 in (30 cm) or about 16 in (40 cm).

The second sets the foam seats on a frame of MDF and wood, which holds them at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm) and no lower. Away from a wall, the framed build with a wooden backrest is the one that stands on its own. I would choose all foam for a family room that gets rearranged, and the frame for a formal hall.

## How many seats does each wall take?

No seat is cut longer than 75 in (190 cm); longer walls get equal pieces. A 100 in (254 cm) wall takes two seats of 50 in (127 cm). A 197 in (500 cm) wall takes three of about 66 in (167 cm). Two backrests sit on each seat, each half its length or so.

At each corner the side run gives up one seat-depth to the run it meets. Armrests are spread out so no stretch looks crowded, from 2 to 4 on a small L to 6 or more on a large U. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

> Chalk marks wash out. Wrong measurements do not.

## Charcoal, black or another gray: what can the fabric be?

Upholstery comes in velvet, chenille, linen-look weaves and faux leather in plain colors. Every solid shade has its own number on the color card. A few patterned weaves have no true black at all, and there charcoal or a very dark navy comes closest. Gold accents are optional.

More charcoal, silver and gray-and-gold rooms are gathered on one page. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

## Which three answers does the cutting table need from you?

- How long is each wall, corner to corner, leaving out the doors?
- How high should the seat sit, and on a wooden base or all foam?
- Which gray, and where should the gold go?

Any unit works, and a phone sketch is enough. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can the carved armrest panels be made without the gold finish?

Gold accents are optional on this design, so the carved panels can be finished without gold, or the gold can stay on the panels while the seats remain plain. Mark what you want on a photo, and the quote lists every change.

### Can the charcoal jalsa stand in the middle of the room?

A foam backrest needs a wall or a solid surface behind it. For a run in the open, choose a model with a full wooden base and wooden backrest, or ask about metal back supports, which are made on request.

### Can the dark gray seats be less deep for a narrow hall?

Standard seats are about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep; a narrow room can take 19.5 in (50 cm) to 23.5 in (60 cm), and deeper seats up to about 33.5 in (85 cm) can be made on request. Give the room width on your sketch.
