# Minimal-Detailed Royal Arabic Jalsah in Navy and Gold Brocade

The Minimal-Detailed Royal Arabic Jalsah is a navy and gold brocade majlis made to your walls, with brocade on seats and backrests and fringed striped bolsters at each run end. Plans run as a single wall, an L or a U, and at each inside corner the next run starts one seat depth out so the two runs never overlap.

## Questions buyers ask

### How long does a custom majlis take from ordering to delivery at my door?

A made-to-measure Royal Arabic Jalsah needs its drawing approved before cutting and sewing. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule. Transit follows dispatch, and its estimate depends on the delivery destination stated in the quote. Review both stages when planning the room rather than counting from the first message.

### Can the Minimal-Detailed Royal Arabic Jalsah brocade be made in black and gold instead of navy?

The brocade comes in the colorways it is woven in, and some patterned designs are not woven in true black at all. Where black is missing, a very dark navy or charcoal is usually the closest match, so ask to see every colorway of this brocade before choosing.

## Which brocade pieces are counted in a U-shaped room?

| Component | Number | Size note |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Navy and gold brocade seat | Enough to fill each run | Up to 75 in (190 cm) per piece, about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep |
| Brocade backrest | Divided over the seats | Follows each seat length |
| Fringed striped bolster | At run ends, more on long walls | Positions set on the drawing |
| Throw pillow | Chosen with the layout | Small throw size |

The black mandala rug, the chandelier and the Greek-key valance belong to the photographed hall and are quoted only on request. Among our [Arabic majlis sofa designs](https://orientalsofa.com/arabic-majlis/), this one puts its gold into the woven fabric itself rather than into trim strips.

## How does a U layout handle its two inside corners?

At each inside corner the second run starts one seat depth out, so a U gives up two seat depths of wall in total. A 177 in (450 cm) back wall is then shared into three equal 59 in (150 cm) pieces.

The designer spaces the striped bolsters so a long U never feels crowded, and a large U usually takes six or more of them. In the photographed hall a round pouf fills one inside corner, a styling touch I like because it softens the turn. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

## How low should brocade seating sit under a chandelier?

Under a chandelier I would keep the seats low, around 8 in (20 cm), so the eye travels across the brocade to the medallions on the rug. Guests who rise often are better served by 12 in (30 cm), and a raised build reaches 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm) depending on the model.

Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

## How big should the rug be inside a U of brocade seating?

Measure the open floor between the runs once the seating plan is fixed, then choose the rug. Stock rugs run from 31.5 × 79 in (80 × 200 cm) up to 79 × 118 in (200 × 300 cm), though not every size is made in every design.

> A family in Texas sent three wall lengths, 137 in (348 cm), 177 in (450 cm) and 137 in (348 cm), and asked for a custom Arabic floor majlis with seats 8 in (20 cm) thick. The plan listed five floor cushions, ten backrests, two corner backrests, five armrests, an ottoman, three pouf pillows and a rug. The first order description left the rug out, and the buyer asked for it to be corrected before paying, which it was. The set arrived safely and went into the family room. Later the family measured the open floor inside the seating and bought our largest standard rug, 79 in (200 cm) by 118 in (300 cm), plus three more ottomans, then sent photos and a video of the finished room.

> Pick the rug first or pick it last, but never pick it in a hurry.

I would let the black rug carry the mandalas and keep the pillows in plain navy, so the gold shows in the weave and the rug border and nowhere else. Other sets with gold trim, star tables and damask are gathered among the royal majlis designs. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

## Which details of the Minimal-Detailed Royal Arabic Jalsah can you adjust?

- Layout: a single straight run, an L or a U, as in our [U-shaped layouts](https://orientalsofa.com/majlis-layouts/u-shaped/).
- Colors: the brocade keeps the colorways it is woven in, while plain seats or pillows can take any shade from the color card.
- Build: a foam-only seat, or a wooden base once the seat reaches the raised height.

## What helps the design team plan your brocade majlis?

If the walls are pale, my pairing would be this navy brocade, a black rug and brass lamps, so the gold turns up three times in the room.

Lengths for every wall, in any unit, plus a sketch or a handful of photos and your preferred height are enough for a first drawing. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the black mandala rug included with the Minimal-Detailed Royal Arabic Jalsah?

Rugs are add-ons to a custom majlis quote, so the black mandala rug in the photos is not part of the seating. Rugs can be ordered on their own as well, in stock sizes or made to your floor.

### Can this brocade majlis be planned as a single straight run?

Sets are planned as a single straight run, an L or a U, so one wall of brocade seating works well. A straight run ends with a bolster at each open end, and every seat piece stays at 75 in (190 cm) or shorter.

### Can the brocade go on the backrests only, with plain navy seats?

Patterned backrests over plain seats are one of the usual combinations, and plain navy velvet for the seats is picked from the color card. The gold then stays on the backrests while the seats read as one calm band.
