# Personalized Arabic Jalsah in Black and Ivory Stripes

The Personalized Arabic Jalsah is a black and ivory striped majlis with black velvet seats on bases traced by a stepped gold fret line and ivory backrests striped in black. A 52 in (132 cm) seat, for example, carries two 26 in (66 cm) striped backrests, so the stripes keep an even rhythm along each wall.

## Questions buyers ask

### What is your return policy if I order a custom-size majlis or floor sofa?

Made-to-measure pieces can't usually be returned for a change of mind — ask us how this applies before you order. Review the Personalized Arabic Jalsah drawing, fabric code and component list before confirming the order, because those details describe what is being made. A report about damage or a missing item follows the separate process stated for that issue.

### Can the Personalized Arabic Jalsah covers be remade in new colors later?

Covers can be ordered without foam, for example to refresh a set in a new color, so the foam inserts you already have stay in use. Note the color numbers of your first order and the piece sizes on your layout drawing, and send both when you ask.

## How many striped backrests and gold-fret seats does a room need?

| Item | Count | Dimensions |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Black velvet seat on a gold-fret base | Set by your wall lengths | Near 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, at most 75 in (190 cm) per piece |
| Ivory backrest with black stripes | Spread evenly along each seat | Cut to match its seat |
| Armrest with an X-strap cover | One where each run ends | Straight or round style |
| Striped bolster with a tassel | Placed on the drawing | Planned with the armrests |

In the photos, the nesting tables, the geometric rug and the black-and-ivory valance are styling for the room. Beside the gold-heavy designs in our [Arabic majlis range](https://orientalsofa.com/arabic-majlis/), this one keeps its gold to a single stepped line at the base.

## How are the striped backrests divided along each wall?

Backrests are split evenly over the seat beneath them, so a 52 in (132 cm) seat carries two 26 in (66 cm) backrests. Seats follow the same equal split, up to 75 in (190 cm) each.

> Pattern repeats should meet at the seams like two halves of one tile.

I like the stripes on the backrests above calm black seats, because the eye then reads each wall as one long rhythm. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

## Which seat height and build suit black bases with gold lines?

Low seats of 4 in (10 cm) or 8 in (20 cm) keep a floor-style room, 12 in (30 cm) helps guests who rise often, and a raised build sits at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm) depending on the model. Two builds are possible: foam throughout, or foam seats on an MDF and wood frame.

A raised base gives the stepped gold line more height to run along, and that is the version I would choose for this design. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

## Can the black be swapped for navy or charcoal?

Every block, from the seat to the stripe, is chosen from the numbered color card, and the gold line can be left off for an all-black base. In some patterned fabrics true black is not woven at all, and a very dark navy or charcoal is then the closest match.

Charcoal softens the contrast, and I would choose it for a room with strong daylight. Charcoal with ivory also sits close to the modern majlis designs, where channel stitching does the work that gold does elsewhere. Velvet, chenille and linen-look weaves are weighed against each other in our [guide to majlis fabrics](https://orientalsofa.com/fabrics/).

## What stays the same if you resize this striped design?

- Wall lengths, corners and seat height follow your room.
- Some striped and patterned designs come only in standard 75 in (190 cm) modules, so ask before planning an odd length.
- Depth can come down to 19.5 in (50 cm)–23.5 in (60 cm) for a narrow room.

## Which photos and lengths does the design team need?

I would let a rug with a knotted geometric border pick up the black, and keep the pillows plain so the stripes stay the strongest pattern in the room.

Send each wall's length in any unit, a sketch or a short video of the room, and the height you have in mind. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule.

## Frequently asked questions

### Are the striped bolsters included with the Personalized Arabic Jalsah?

The quote covers seats, backrests, two armrest styles and matching pillows, each with its cover and filling, so the striped bolsters are planned in. Tables, rugs and the window valance in the photos are separate add-ons.

### Can the Personalized Arabic Jalsah be made as all-foam floor seating?

Most designs can be built with or without a wooden base, and frame designs can also be made as all-foam floor seating. For this one, a 8 in (20 cm) foam seat is the usual choice, and 4 in (10 cm) is possible for a very low room.

### Why is this design called a personalized jalsah?

Nothing about it is fixed until your room is measured: wall lengths, seat height, build and every color are chosen per order. The stripes and the gold fret line are what stay recognizable.
