# Royal Star Arabic Palace Jalsa in Taupe and Gold

The Royal Star Arabic Palace Jalsa is a taupe palace-style majlis framed in thin gold lines or a fuller baroque band, cut to your own walls. A frameless all-foam build is softer to lean on and lighter to ship, while a wooden-frame build looks more like furniture and sits at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm).

## Questions buyers ask

### Can a majlis design that has a wooden back be made with a soft sponge back instead?

Most designs with a wooden or gold-framed back can be made as a full-sponge version, with a foam backrest in the same fabric and layout. The sponge back is softer to lean on and lighter to ship, and decorative wood on the top trim can be left off.

### Can the wood be only on the base, not the backrests, or on just some sections of the majlis?

Three builds are possible and can be mixed in one room: fully wooden, a wooden base only with foam backrests, and full sponge with no wood. Builds with wood sit at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm).

## What does the taupe Palace Jalsa include along each wall?

| Component | Quantity in your room | Size |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Taupe seat module | Per wall | About 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, up to 75 in (190 cm) long |
| Corner module | Every inside corner | Same depth as the runs |
| Backrest | Above each seat | Foam block, or cushion against a wooden frame |
| Armrest bolster | Every open end | 19.5 × 8 × 8 in (50 × 20 × 20 cm) on a low seat, larger at sofa height |
| Accent pillow | Added to order | Small throw pillows |

Gold trim along the bases and backrests is what frames a taupe palace-style set, either as thin lines or as a fuller baroque band. Its seating follows the same rules as the rest of our [made-to-measure majlis designs](https://orientalsofa.com/arabic-majlis/), where layouts and heights are compared.

## How is a palace-style layout fitted to your walls?

Each wall is measured from corner to corner and split into equal seat pieces of up to about 75 in (190 cm): a 205 in (520 cm) wall takes three of about 68 in (173 cm). Where two walls meet, the first run carries on into the corner and the second begins a seat depth away from it.

A wall with a door in it is two walls to me, and I plan each side as its own run with an armrest at the door. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

## All foam or a wooden frame: which build suits a palace-style room?

A full-foam build has no internal frame and no springs, so the foam itself gives the shape, usually at 12 in (30 cm) or about 16 in (40 cm), with lower floor-style seats of 4 in (10 cm) or 8 in (20 cm) on request. A wooden-frame build looks more like furniture and is made at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), never lower.

For a formal guest room I lean toward the frame. For a family room where pieces get moved, I lean toward foam. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

> Wood frame or all foam: neither is better, they answer different rooms.

## Why taupe, and how much gold can it carry?

Taupe sits between beige and gray, so it pairs with warm wood tables as easily as with cool marble, and it shows everyday marks less than ivory. On a taupe set in a living room I would keep the gold to thin lines, and save the wide baroque band for a large hall.

The photographed room is a sister design, a taupe and cream majlis on mocha fret bases, in the same palette with walnut nesting tables. Other formal rooms are gathered under palace-style majlis designs. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

## What do you need ready before asking for a quote?

- Wall-to-wall lengths for every seating wall, in feet, inches, meters or centimeters.
- A quick sketch or a few photos of the room, with doors and windows marked.
- Your choice of build, all foam or wooden frame, and a seat height.

The team replies with a layout and a quote. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule. Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is taupe the only color for the Palace Jalsa?

Taupe is the color shown, but most models can be made in any color from the fabric range, picked by number from the color card. Ask whether the gold lines suit the shade you choose.

### Can the Palace Jalsa be made lower than sofa height?

An all-foam build can be made at 12 in (30 cm), 8 in (20 cm) or 4 in (10 cm). A wooden-frame build stays at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), so choose foam for a seat close to the floor.

### Can the Palace Jalsa stand in the middle of a room, away from the walls?

A run that has to stand in the middle of a room calls for the wooden build, with a wooden base and a wooden backrest. Mention the freestanding side when you send measurements, so it is marked on the layout drawing.
