Cream Majlis Planned in Four Zones Around a Glass Table

The cream Arabic jalsah with a glass table is a made-to-measure majlis in four seating zones, one per wall, arranged around an X-base glass center table that is room styling, quoted only if you ask. In a room 177 in (450 cm) square, seats 29.5 in (75 cm) deep leave an open center of about 118 in (300 cm) for the table and a walking path.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

How high will you sit?

The 4 in (10 cm) and 8 in (20 cm) sets are the everyday choices; 12 in (30 cm) and 16 in (40 cm) cushions are usually made to order.

Stacked cushions are separate pieces, not sewn together, so a top layer can come off and serve as an extra floor mattress for guests.

Questions buyers ask

If I put seating on facing walls, how much floor space will be left in the middle of the room?

Open floor in the middle equals the room width minus twice the seat depth. Standard floor cushions are 27.5 in (70 cm) deep, so a room 77 in (195 cm) wide with seating on both long walls keeps about 21.5 in (55 cm), enough for a narrow table. Raised majlis pieces run nearer 29.5 in (75 cm).

From the atelier

Can I get separate straight seating runs instead of one connected L or U with corner pieces?

Separate straight runs are a normal layout: each run is built to its own wall length, and every open end gets an armrest instead of a corner backrest. That suits rooms broken up by doorways and lets you move pieces to other walls later.

What's inside the cushion?

The seat foam is firm to medium-firm; softer or firmer filling can be requested.

What does a quote cover?

A custom majlis quote covers seat cushions, backrests, two styles of armrest and matching pillows, all with covers and filling; tables, rugs and curtains are separate add-ons.

Questions about this design

What does the four-zone cream jalsah include?

ItemNumberDimensions
Seat modulePer wall, in equal piecesUp to 75 in (190 cm) each, 29.5 in (75 cm) deep
Corner moduleWhere two walls meet39 × 39 in (100 × 100 cm) at raised height
BackrestTwo per seat16 in (40 cm) high
ArmrestAt each break in the seating19.5 × 8 × 8 in (50 × 20 × 20 cm) for low seats

Four zones does not mean four sets. The seating is one quote, and the zones come from where armrests break the runs: at a door, at a window or simply to give each wall its own group. The glass table, cube tables and wall art are room styling. As with every design in our custom majlis collection, the piece list is drawn from your walls.

How much floor stays free around the glass table?

Subtract the seat depth twice from the width of the room. With seats about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep on all four walls, a room 177 in (450 cm) square keeps a center of about 118 in (300 cm) by 118 in (300 cm). A table 71 in (180 cm) across then leaves a path of roughly 23.5 in (60 cm) on each side.

Which height and build fit a room arranged in zones?

Every zone should share one height, or the room reads as four separate pieces of furniture. I prefer 12 in (30 cm) for a family room: easier to rise from than floor height, still low beside small tables.

HeightWho it suitsBuilt as
4 in (10 cm) or 8 in (20 cm)Floor-style sitting, prayer useAll foam
12 in (30 cm)Mixed agesAll foam, or with a wooden backrest
14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm)Sofa-height comfortAll foam, or on a wooden base

The seat foam sits firm to medium-firm. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

Can the cream, black and gold be changed?

Every color in the photos can change, since every shade on our numbered fabric card is available, and the gold can stay, switch or go. Cream with black accents is one of the white and ivory majlis schemes; a darker seat under cream backrests works just as well. Velvet, chenille and linen-look weaves are all indoor upholstery.

Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

What will you check on delivery day?

Custom pieces leave the workshop numbered in layout order. Lay them out by number, wall by wall, and check that each zone ends with an armrest where the drawing shows one. Unzip one seat as well: the foam should fill its cover right into the corners.

Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval. Each zone is cut to that drawing. Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship.

Can the four zones of this jalsah be different lengths?

Each zone follows its own wall, so lengths can differ freely. A short wall beside a door might take a single 47 in (120 cm) seat while a long wall takes two equal pieces, each no longer than about 75 in (190 cm).

What joins two zones of the jalsah at a corner?

Where two zones meet, a corner module links them, or each run ends with an armrest if you want a visible break. Breaks suit a corner beside a door or a tall cabinet, and the drawing marks every corner choice before cutting.

Can this jalsah be planned for a rectangular room instead of a square one?

A rectangular room works the same way: the long walls take more equal pieces, the short walls fewer, and the zones still break where you want them. Only the open center changes shape, so check its width as the room width minus two seat depths.
