At Oriental Sofa, the Arabic sofa range covers two ways of furnishing a room: majlis seating sized wall by wall, and floor sofa sets in single, L or U layouts, all produced in our Istanbul workshop. Seats run from 4 in (10 cm) near the floor to 16 in (40 cm) at sofa height, and custom pieces are cut only after you approve a drawn plan.

Planning and ordering

Wall-to-wall majlis or a standard floor sofa set: where should you start?

Start with the walls you want to seat. Seating that runs unbroken from corner to corner calls for a made-to-measure Arabic majlis, built from foam alone or on a wooden base. For one wall, a corner or three sides of a smaller room, our single, L and U floor sofa sets use fixed 75 × 27.5 in (190 × 70 cm) seat cushions, so the size is known before you order.

How many people will your walls seat?

Take a room with two walls of 118 in (300 cm). The majlis planner splits the first wall into two equal cushions of 59 in (150 cm) and the second wall into two of 45 in (115 cm), since the first run already fills about 27.5 in (70 cm) of the corner. No piece goes past 75 in (190 cm), and seats are counted at one adult for every 23.5 in (60 cm), so a full-length cushion holds two to three people.

Each full-set count includes three pouf pillows of 27.5 × 19.5 in (70 × 50 cm) and a foam ottoman table of 23.5 × 23.5 × 8 in (60 × 60 × 20 cm), and every cushion arrives with its cover on, ready to use. What happens between measuring your walls and opening the boxes of a custom majlis?
  1. Measure every wall corner to corner, leaving out doorways, and send the numbers with a sketch or a few photos.
  2. A designer turns your numbers into a drawn layout, measured piece by piece, and production waits for your approval.
  3. We confirm the fabric code and seat height, make the pieces and send photos and video for your sign-off.
  4. The cushions are vacuum-sealed into several boxes, each with its own tracking number.

We don't have a showroom or a store you can visit; measuring and fabric questions are settled on a video call. How a custom order runs covers each approval in more detail.

Which businesses order the same floor seating?

Restaurants, cafés and coffee houses, mosques and community halls, event venues and resellers order from the same workshop, measured and signed off the same way as a home majlis. The Sedir Bench line is a common choice for cafés and restaurants because it sits firmer than an all-foam set. Commercial majlis seating covers how larger rooms are planned.

Every order travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials. Tell us your country in the quote form and we'll confirm delivery.

Fit, packing and foam: what stands out once a set arrives?

Three details stand out once a set is unpacked. Custom seats meet the corners they were drawn for, and the foam forgives a measuring slip of up to about 2 in (5 cm). Vacuum-sealed cushions take about a day to regain full shape after the bags are opened. The seat foam is firm to medium-firm, with softer or firmer filling available on request.
