Arabic Majlis for Organizations, Associations and Events

An Arabic majlis for events is a run of modular floor cushions, backrests and armrests that seats guests in a wedding hall, on a henna stage or in a community room, then packs away for the next occasion. Groups choose between standard sets in fixed sizes and pieces cut to each wall, and we confirm the layout and piece count with you before production starts.

Questions buyers ask

2 questions

Can you make an Emirati-style corner majlis for a small square event space?

An Emirati-style corner majlis sits low along the walls, so a square room of about 157 × 157 in (400 × 400 cm) takes an L with a corner backrest. One run covers the full 157 in (400 cm); the second loses one 27.5 in (70 cm) seat depth and comes to about 130 in (330 cm). Each run is split into equal pieces of up to 75 in (190 cm).

If the set is made in a custom size, will the pattern or border look different from the photo?

Patterned designs can look slightly different at custom sizes. Some fabrics carry a border drawn for the standard piece, and a longer or shorter cushion may trim it at the edges. If the border is why you chose the design, ask the team how it falls at your sizes.

Which events use a floor majlis, and who places the order?

Event seating works to a hard rhythm: it arrives, holds a full room for one evening, and clears out before the hall is swept. Cafés and halls that keep a majlis all year are covered in our guide to majlis seating for business.

Questions venues ask

3 questions

Is there a ready floor sofa longer than the standard piece, or does a long run have to be custom?

Standard floor pieces are 75 in (190 cm) long, and ready L and U sets are built from them, so a longer wall takes several pieces. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule. One short custom filler beside standard pieces keeps most of the set ready to dispatch.

Can we see the finished pieces before they ship?

Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship. Check the fabric, sizes and piece count against the layout you signed off, and flag anything that differs before the boxes are sealed.

Do you set the seating up at the venue?

Setup is done by your own team or planner. Foam floor sets arrive ready to use, and each piece simply sits in place along the wall. Ask us for a design consultation — we can talk through your room on a video call.

Majlis for rent or to own: when does buying make sense?

We make and sell event seating; we do not rent it out. Rental companies buy the same pieces to hire out, and a single host gains most when the set has a second life: a guest room, a lounge or the next family wedding.

Quotes are built piece by piece, so a one-off event orders only what it needs. Single pieces, spare covers and replacement foam can be ordered any time.

How many pieces does a hall, a stage or a tent need?

Count the walls first, then the guests. Every floor set grows from one module: a 75 × 27.5 × 4 in (190 × 70 × 10 cm) seat cushion with two backrests and two armrests, repeated along longer walls in pieces of 75 in (190 cm) or shorter.

On a stage, I plan the ends as carefully as the middle, so armrests or side cushions go in the first order. Our floor sofa sets in single, L and U shapes show how the modules combine.

Planning questions

6 questions

What if the venue has no wall behind the seating?

Floor sofa backrests lean on a wall or another firm surface, and a tent, a stage or an open lounge often has none. For an open side, metal back supports can be added on request; a run that touches a wall needs none.

Mark every open side on your sketch, so the supports land on the same quote. A run that must stand mid-room needs a model with a wooden base and backrest.

How do mosques, foundations and associations order event seating?

A national survey of US mosques counted 2,769 of them, 31 percent more than ten years earlier. A hall that hosts prayers, dinners and youth evenings needs seating for each.

Committees rarely decide in one meeting, so ask for an itemized quote listing every piece, size and fabric. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

Older guests rise more easily from 12 in (30 cm) or 16 in (40 cm) than from floor level, so one raised wall is worth planning. Halls that keep long runs in place all year have their own page on mosque majlis seating.

Which fabrics hold up through a season of events?

A crowded room is hard on pale fabric, so mid-tone or patterned covers usually serve better than white. Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle, and faux leather comes in plain colors only.

Will a set be ready before your event date?

Put the date in your first message, before colors or patterns. Ready-made sets are packed soon after payment — ask us for the current dispatch time. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule.

Production waits for the layout sign-off. If the date is too close, the team says so plainly and suggests standard pieces instead.

How early should the boxes be opened before guests arrive?

A set travels in several compressed boxes that may land on different days. Open them all once the last arrives: the foam needs about a day out of its vacuum bag to recover.

Unpack the day before, not on the morning. If anything arrives damaged or missing, message us with photos as soon as you can and we'll put it right.

What might your venue or fire official ask for?

  • Whether loose floor seating is allowed in the hall or tent, and who signs it off.
  • Fabric documents, if the venue or permit office wants them for event furniture.
  • Clear aisles to every exit, with no seat run blocking a walkway.
  • Whether a rug under the seating counts as a floor covering for the permit.

If your fire official or venue asks for fabric documents, put the written requirement in your first message; the team checks it fabric by fabric and says plainly if nothing fits.

Project brief

What do we need from you to draw the first layout?

  • The event date, or the first date if the set will be reused.
  • The size of the hall, stage or tent, side by side, with open sides marked.
  • How many guests sit at once, and whether older guests need a raised section.
  • Photos of the space and the color theme.
  • Extras: rugs, ottomans, pouf pillows or spare covers.

With those five lines, fellow host, the first reply can carry a layout and a piece count.
