Navy Blue Premium Yemeni Majlis in Velvet and Gold

The Navy Velvet Yemeni Majlis is a made-to-measure majlis for long rooms, set along three walls with navy seats and backrests, gold-trimmed pillows and white-and-gold cube tables as an add-on. On raised builds the 10 × 10 × 21.5 in (25 × 25 × 55 cm) armrests wear mustard velvet with a gold band, and those covers can be sewn in navy, cream or gold instead.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

How high will you sit?

If someone at home finds low seats hard to get up from, choose 12 in (30 cm) or the 16 in (40 cm) sofa-height option; 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm) suits a classic floor-style room or a prayer room.

Most raised majlis designs can also be made at 8 in (20 cm), keeping the same look at half the height.

What seat thicknesses do you offer, and which one do most buyers choose?

Floor sofas and all-foam majlis come in four seat thicknesses, 4 in (10 cm), 8 in (20 cm), 12 in (30 cm) and 16 in (40 cm). The 16 in (40 cm) seat is a frequent choice because it feels like a sofa and is easier to get up from, while 4 in (10 cm) keeps a traditional close-to-the-floor feel. If you are undecided, ask for two heights on one quote.

From the atelier

I already have a wooden frame, or will build one. Can I order just the cushions and backrests?

Cushion-only orders are possible: seat cushions, backrests, armrest bolsters and pillows can be made to fit your own wooden frame, in the thickness you choose, with 8 in (20 cm) a common pick. Measure the length and depth of every seat on the frame, then choose a fabric and color, and the designer sizes each piece to it.

Navy is one of the most requested colors for the Yemeni majlis designs we cut to each wall, along with maroon and green. The tables, rug and curtains in the photos are room styling, quoted only if you ask.

How is a velvet cover made to fit its foam?

Every seat, backrest and armrest gets its own zippered cover, sewn to the sizes on your drawing. Backrests stand 16 in (40 cm) tall and 4 in (10 cm) thick. Nothing inside is sprung. The seat foam sits on the firm side of medium, and the fill can be made softer or harder on request.

Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build. For guests who sit upright through long visits, I would pick the firmer filling.

How much wall does a three-wall navy layout take?

Take the back wall first, end to end. Then measure each side wall from that back wall to the point where the seating should end, skipping any door. Both corners cost one seat-depth on the side runs, and a U this size usually carries six or more armrests.

Another long navy room, on ivory-and-gold bases with nested tables, shows the same palette at hall scale. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

Navy or another deep shade: how is the velvet chosen?

Velvet shades carry numbers on the color card, which keeps the navy on your quote and the navy on your seats the same. The mustard armrests can turn navy, cream or gold, and gold accents are optional. For star tables, damask and heavier gold, see the royal-style majlis rooms.

How does a navy order move from drawing to dispatch?

You confirm the model, the sizes, the height and the fabric number one last time.
The navy velvet arrives at the workshop, and fabric and foam are cut.
The upholsterer sews each cover, and progress photos are shared.
The pieces are packed and shipped.

Can the mustard armrests be made in navy instead?

The armrest covers can be sewn in navy to match the seats, in cream, or kept mustard, since any color from the range can go on any piece. Note your choice on the layout drawing so every armrest is cut in the right fabric.

Does the navy majlis include the cube tables and the cream rug?

The seating quote covers seats, backrests, armrests and matching pillows. The cube tables and the rug are add-ons: rugs are sold separately too, in stock sizes or made to the room, and tables come as separate sets.

How are the navy seats packed for shipping?

Each foam piece is compressed, rolled and vacuum-packed, and the set ships in several boxes, which do not always arrive together. After opening, the foam regains its shape in about a day and cannot be flattened again at home.
