Brown-Detailed Yemeni Jalsah in Beige and Gold

A medallion chandelier marks the middle of the room for the Brown Detailed Yemeni Jalsah, and the U of seating is balanced around it: beige seats and backrests on dark brown bases traced with gold lines. Seats are about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, no piece runs past 75 in (190 cm), and openings can be cut where floor vents or outlets sit.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

How high will you sit?

If someone at home finds low seats hard to get up from, choose 12 in (30 cm) or the 16 in (40 cm) sofa-height option; 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm) suits a classic floor-style room or a prayer room.

Most raised majlis designs can also be made at 8 in (20 cm), keeping the same look at half the height.

Questions buyers ask

Can a majlis go in front of a radiator, heater or floor AC vent?

Seating shouldn't sit directly against a radiator or heating panel, so the run stops before it or moves to another wall. Floor-level AC units and vents are different: openings can be built into the pieces so air keeps flowing, or a piece can end before the vent.

How long does it take to make a custom wooden majlis?

Wooden pieces take longer to make than foam sets — ask us for the current schedule. Confirm the Brown Detailed Jalsah drawing, vent openings and component sizes before production begins; the workshop schedule concerns making those pieces. Courier transit is a separate stage, so an event date should be reviewed with the complete order plan.

Questions about this design

How many pieces does a beige U-shaped jalsah need?

PieceCountSize
Seat pieceEach wall divided by 75 in (190 cm), rounded upAbout 29.5 in (75 cm) deep
Corner seatTwo on a U, one on an LSame depth as the runs
BackrestTwo per seat piece16 in (40 cm) tall
Armrest bolsterTwo to four for a small L; six or more for a large U10 × 10 × 21.5 in (25 × 25 × 55 cm) on raised builds

I begin a U at the back wall, the one a guest faces from the door, so the chandelier stays over the middle of the tables. Beige with brown detailing is one of many looks in our Yemeni majlis collection, each drawn from your wall lengths.

How does a Yemeni jalsah work around vents and outlets?

Openings for floor vents and wall sockets, or an MDF section that lets air through, can be built into the base, so a socket behind the seating stays reachable and air keeps moving. With seats about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, an outlet hidden behind a run is out of reach unless its opening is planned.

On the sketch, I give each outlet two numbers: how far it sits from the closest corner and how high it sits above the floor.

How do you line the seating up with a center chandelier?

Measure from each corner to the point under the chandelier along both long walls. If the two numbers differ, the room is off-center, and the side runs can be cut to different lengths with a small filler seat so the tables still sit under the light.

With seats 29.5 in (75 cm) deep on both long walls, a room 177 in (450 cm) wide keeps about 118 in (300 cm) of floor below the chandelier. I would rather shorten one side run with a filler piece than move the tables off center.

What keeps a beige jalsah from looking flat?

The brown bases draw a dark line along every run, which shows the shape of the U from the doorway, and brown pillows repeat it higher up. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

  • Base: dark brown, charcoal or another shade from the color card, with or without the gold lines
  • Seat height: 4 in (10 cm) to 16 in (40 cm)
  • Seat depth: about 29.5 in (75 cm), or 19.5 in (50 cm) to 23.5 in (60 cm) where the room is narrow

Other taupe, champagne and sand majlis colors show how beige behaves with lighter or darker trim.

What should your sketch mark before the bases are cut?

  1. Mark every floor vent, wall socket and radiator, and note which sockets must stay reachable.
  2. Mark the spot under the chandelier and each door, so the U stays centered.
  3. Send the sketch with your wall lengths and a photo of each wall.

Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval. Openings for vents and outlets appear on that drawing, so you can check them before anything is cut. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule.

  2. We draw the layout
  3. You approve, then we cut

Can the gold lines on the brown bases be left off?

Gold accents are optional on this design, so the bases can stay plain brown or take another shade from the color card. The layout drawing and fabric list show exactly which version you are ordering before production starts.

Can the brown-based jalsah hide storage under its seats?

A wooden-base build leaves room for storage under the seats, and some wooden-frame models come with drawers. An all-foam build has no frame inside, so choose the wooden base if storage matters and mention it with your measurements.

How many seat pieces does a 177 in (450 cm) back wall take?

A 177 in (450 cm) wall is split into three pieces of 59 in (150 cm), because a single piece stops at 75 in (190 cm). With two backrests on each piece, that wall carries six backrests, and the two side runs are counted the same way.
