Majlis Seating for Business, Planned From Your Floor Plan

Commercial majlis seating means Arabic floor or bench seating planned from a venue's floor plan, for cafés and coffee houses, restaurants, mosques and community halls, event venues and resellers. A custom venue project is drawn seat by seat from that plan and signed off before anything is cut, and terms for trade and repeat orders are agreed project by project.

Questions buyers ask

2 questions

Can you make a majlis or floor sofa to fit my room exactly, or do you only sell standard sizes?

Both options exist: standard single, L and U sets built from 75 × 27.5 in (190 × 70 cm) modules, and made-to-measure seating cut to your own wall lengths in most models and fabrics. For a custom layout, send each wall's wall-to-wall length, a photo of the room, the model you like and your seat thickness. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

I run a venue and need two identical U-shaped sets. Can you make them match and ship them together?

Two matching sets can be made and shipped together when one quote lists the same model, fabric and sizes for both. Confirm the same seat build for each set, either one solid cushion or two stacked 4 in (10 cm) layers per seat, so the seats sit at the same height side by side. Before production, the model, every measurement, the seat height and the fabric code are confirmed with you.

Do you send a layout plan so our staff can set the cushions out themselves?

Custom orders come with a layout plan showing where each seat, backrest and corner piece goes. Foam pieces need no assembly: they are numbered at the workshop and simply placed in order.

Can you supply majlis seating together with wooden benches and tables for a Middle Eastern restaurant?

Majlis runs, wooden benches and low tables can share one restaurant project and one layout drawing. Send a floor plan with every seating run, angled corners included, and the table count. Wooden pieces take longer to make than foam sets — ask us for the current schedule.

Can our team sign off the seating without seeing it in person?

Hotel projects are signed off remotely from the Istanbul workshop. A video call puts the fabrics on camera, a dimensioned layout comes back for your approval, and finished pieces are filmed before dispatch. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

Is there a ready floor sofa longer than the standard piece, or does a long run have to be custom?

Standard floor pieces are 75 in (190 cm) long, and ready L and U sets are built from them, so a longer wall takes several pieces. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule. One short custom filler beside standard pieces keeps most of the set ready to dispatch.

How many floor sofa sets fit in one shipping container?

Container counts are worked out per order, because single sets, L and U units, raised majlis and wooden benches all take different room. Send the mix you have in mind and the container size, and the team returns the set count for that load before you commit.

Can the set be shipped straight to a studio or a location?

Sets ship in several boxes, typically two or three for an L and more for larger layouts, and the boxes may arrive on different days. Ship to an address where someone can sign, count the boxes against the packing list on arrival, and leave a day in hand before the shoot.

Plan a venue project

Which venues is the seating planned for?

The seating is planned for seven kinds of venue, each with its own page and its own planning details. Measuring and layout work the same way for all of them, and the majlis planning guides walk through both steps. The seven groups are:

  • Cafés and coffee houses, including Yemeni coffee houses and hookah lounges
  • Restaurants with floor seating or family sections
  • Hotels, guest lounges and holiday rentals
  • Mosques, Islamic centers, schools and community halls
  • Event halls, weddings and henna nights
  • Offices, studios and film or photo sets
  • Resellers and trade buyers, including display sets

What are the steps from floor plan to finished room?

A venue project runs through seven steps, and nothing is cut until you sign off the layout:

  1. Send the floor plan or a sketch with each seating wall measured, and mark the seating zone, doors and service paths.
  2. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.
  3. Ask us for a design consultation — we can talk through your room on a video call.
  4. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.
  5. Production follows the signed-off drawing.
  6. Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship.
  7. Pieces arrive numbered to match the drawing, so staff can place them in order.

Ask us about freight options for large and commercial orders. The factors that shape a majlis quote apply to venues as they do to homes: seating length, shape, seat height, build and fabric line. Terms for trade and repeat orders are agreed project by project.

Planning questions

2 questions

How many armrests does a long venue run need?

A long venue run usually needs more armrests than a home set: a small L takes two to four, a large U six or more, because armrests divide a bench of cushions into individual places. On a custom majlis the designer spaces them along the seating so it does not feel crowded. Standard bolsters measure 19.5 × 8 × 8 in (50 × 20 × 20 cm), and raised sets use larger ones of about 10 × 10 × 21.5 in (25 × 25 × 55 cm), straight or round.

One 75 in (190 cm) seat cushion holds two to three guests. I plan a busy lounge at two guests per cushion and let quiet nights stretch to three. Count the seats, then count the elbows.

Which seating build do cafés and restaurants usually choose?

The Sedir Bench line is a common choice for cafés and restaurants, because it sits firmer than all-foam seating. A custom majlis is built either entirely from foam or on an MDF and wood frame with foam seats, and wooden-base models sit at about 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm). A standard wooden bench is 75 × 27.5 × 16 in (190 × 70 × 40 cm), cushion included, and bench frames come in lengths of about 47 in (120 cm), 59 in (150 cm), 71 in (180 cm) and 75 in (190 cm).

A wooden base and a wooden backrest also let seating stand in the middle of a hall, away from the walls, while all-foam seating needs a wall or another firm surface behind it. Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle, which matters in a room that serves food. The Arabic majlis sofa sets hub describes each build piece by piece.

Project brief

What should a venue brief include?

A venue brief should cover the plan, the guest count, the seat height, photos and the date:

  • A floor plan or sketch with every seating wall measured, in one unit
  • The number of guests to seat at the busiest hour
  • The seat height, from 4 in (10 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), and whether the seating sits on a wooden base
  • Photos taken from the doorway and from the far end of the room
  • The opening or event date, and any written rules from the landlord or fire officer

If those rules cover upholstered seating, send them before you order, and our team will tell you plainly whether we can meet them. Orders for the busy weeks before Ramadan and Eid are best placed early.

Questions venues ask

3 questions

Can a venue keep spare covers ready for busy seasons?

Covers-only sets without foam can be ordered with the first order or at any time later. With a second set on the shelf, one set of covers can be cleaned while the other stays on the seating. Keep the fabric code from your quote for every reorder, so the right color is cut each time.

Does the team install the seating at the venue?

Installation is not part of the service, because the team does not work on site. Custom pieces are laid out at the workshop and numbered against your layout drawing, so staff can place them in order. All-foam seating needs no assembly, and for wooden bench builds you can ask the team how the frames arrive.

Can the seating be made in a venue's own colors?

Most models can be made in any color from the fabric range, and gold accents are optional. Solid colors are chosen by number from the fabric color card, so a shade that has not been photographed can still be ordered. Browse all majlis and floor sofa designs to pick the model first.
