Yemeni-Moroccan Star Jalsah Planned for Long Halls

The Yemeni-Moroccan Star Jalsah is a Yemeni jalsah planned for long halls, weddings and family gatherings, running unbroken along three walls with gray seats, gold-toned tufted backrests and fringed armrests. Each full seat takes two or three adults, so about 591 in (1500 cm) of seating along the walls is enough for a large family gathering.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

How high will you sit?

If someone at home finds low seats hard to get up from, choose 12 in (30 cm) or the 16 in (40 cm) sofa-height option; 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm) suits a classic floor-style room or a prayer room.

Most raised majlis designs can also be made at 8 in (20 cm), keeping the same look at half the height.

Questions buyers ask

Can you take a very large order for a hall with hundreds of feet of floor seating, and what do you need to quote it?

Large halls are quoted as a project, section by section along the walls, and the team offers both wooden and full-foam builds for comparison. State clearly whether your numbers are in feet, inches or meters, and add a short video of the space with the doors, pillars and vents in view.

From the atelier

Is the overall room size enough for a quote, or do you need each wall measured?

Overall room size is a start, but an accurate quote needs the wall-to-wall length of every wall that will carry seating, plus a simple sketch of doors, windows and corners. Cushion sizes are not your job: the designer turns those lengths into seats, backrests and corner pieces and sends a layout drawing to approve before production.

What's inside the cushion?

The seat foam is firm to medium-firm; softer or firmer filling can be requested.

  • Seat foamSeats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.
  • Seat height4 in (10 cm), 8 in (20 cm), 12 in (30 cm), 16 in (40 cm)
  • BuildChoose all-foam modules or a wooden-frame build; softer or firmer filling is available on request.
  • MaterialsUpholstery chosen per order: velvet, chenille, linen-look weaves or jacquard; the upholstery uses first-quality Turkish fabric.
  • On arrivalOpen the vacuum bags within about a week of delivery and give the cushions about a day to recover their full shape before use.

What does a quote cover?

A custom majlis quote covers seat cushions, backrests, two styles of armrest and matching pillows, all with covers and filling; tables, rugs and curtains are separate add-ons.

Questions about this design

A hall jalsah is less a set than a single line of seating, and it is drawn the way every design in the Yemeni majlis family of designs is drawn, wall by wall, before anything is sewn. Tables, rugs and curtains are quoted separately, on request.

How much seating does a long hall need for a family gathering?

A useful rule is that each 75 in (190 cm) seat piece takes two or three adults, so a hall lined with about 591 in (1500 cm) of seating welcomes a large family with room to spare, and on a run that long the designer spaces six or more armrests so that no one feels squeezed between neighbors.

How is a hall this long measured and drawn?

Measure each wall along the floor from corner to corner, note every door, column and window, and send the numbers with a sketch or a short video, since a long hall hides more surprises than a small sitting room.

Ask us for a design consultation — we can talk through your room on a video call. One person reading the tape while another writes is the calmest way through a long room. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

What happens when a long jalsah arrives in many boxes?

A set this size travels in several boxes that may arrive on different days, and the pieces are numbered at the workshop to match your drawing, so the hall fills in order rather than by guesswork. Cut the vacuum bags open within roughly seven days, then allow the cushions about a day to regain their shape before the first guests sit down.

Can the gray and gold be changed for another hall?

The hall in the photos pairs gray seats with gold-toned backrests and champagne pillows, and the same layout can be made in beige, slate blue or any numbered shade from the color card. Lighter rooms are gathered among our beige and sand majlis designs, and a related long-hall set is the beige royal Yemeni seating.

Many families begin planning a hall jalsah well before Ramadan or the wedding season, because the drawing, the fabric and the making each take their turn. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule. Progress photos follow while the covers are sewn. Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship.

Can the hall jalsah leave an opening for a door or a TV wall?

The seating stops wherever your drawing says, so a door, a TV wall or a passage simply becomes a gap between two runs, each ending with an armrest. Mark those openings on your sketch, measured from the closest corner.

Can a large gathering be seated across two rooms instead of one long hall?

Two rooms can each get their own layout and drawing, which is often easier to live with than one very long run. Send the walls of both rooms together, and the team plans the seat pieces and armrests for each.

Can the gray jalsah be made low for floor-style gatherings?

It can sit at 4 in (10 cm) or 8 in (20 cm) as all-foam seating, the low line many families keep for big gatherings, or at about 16 in (40 cm), close to ordinary sofa height, for guests who prefer to sit higher.
