Afghan Gul Single Floor Sofa Set with Octagonal Gul Medallions

Built for a single wall, the Afghan Gul single floor sofa set pairs one 75 × 27.5 in (190 × 70 cm) seat cushion with two backrests and two armrest bolsters, all woven with rows of octagonal gul medallions. Gold, maroon and navy blue are the three grounds, and the 10-piece full version adds an ottoman, a rug and three floor pillows.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

I've never sat on a floor majlis. Can I order one small piece first to test the comfort?

Starting with a single 75 × 27.5 in (190 × 70 cm) floor sofa seat is a sensible way to test low seating. Choose the fabric and thickness you would use later, and if it suits you, the rest of the room is planned around it.

From the atelier

I bought the 4 in (10 cm) cushions. Can I upgrade to 8 in (20 cm) later without replacing the whole set?

Two routes work: order matching 4 in (10 cm) seat cushions and stack them on the ones you have, or order 8 in (20 cm) covers and refit the foam. Stacking is the simpler one. Send a daylight photo of your set so the fabric and pattern match.

Two packages are offered: the first three rows on their own, or the full set. Foam goes into every cover at the atelier, so there is no stuffing and no assembly. Other woven patterns cut the same way are gathered under kilim-pattern floor sofa sets.

How long and deep is one Afghan Gul seat?

The seat cushion is 75 in (190 cm) long and 27.5 in (70 cm) deep. A 4 in (10 cm) backrest takes about 4 in (10 cm) of that depth, leaving roughly 23.5 in (60 cm) to sit on. Leave a little space at each end of the wall, since foam forgives a measuring error of only about 2 in (5 cm). Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

Can a small room take only part of the Afghan Gul single set?

A small room can start with the five seating pieces and leave the ottoman, pillows and rug for later. In a child's room, one seat with its backrests and both armrests already looks like a finished sofa. I would keep both armrests even there. A seat without ends looks borrowed. Single pieces in the same weave can be ordered any time.

Where does the gul come from, and which Afghan Gul colors are there?

Gul comes from the Persian gol, meaning flower. The octagons are the repeating medallions of Turkmen rug weaving, the look many people call an Afghan rug. Gold, maroon and navy blue grounds each sit above a plain band at the seat base. The weave is an indoor upholstery fabric. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order. The five seating pieces can be ordered on their own. The rug comes with the 10-piece full set, along with the ottoman and three floor pillows, and rugs can also be ordered separately.

Can the foam inside the Afghan Gul cushions be replaced later?

Replacement foam, single cushions and covers-only sets can be ordered any time. Send each piece size and a fabric photo, and the team confirms what fits your colorway.

Can the Afghan Gul single sit under a window?

The backrests stand 16 in (40 cm) tall above the seat, so add your seat thickness and compare the total with the sill. They also need solid wall behind them to lean on.
