Minimal Designed Arabic Majlis in Plain Black and Cream
A minimalist majlis keeps only the upholstery: the Minimal Designed Arabic Majlis pairs plain black and cream fabric with no gold trim, no carving and no pattern, on seat modules cut to each wall. Each seat piece is at most 75 in (190 cm) long and roughly 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, built from foam alone or over an MDF-and-wood frame.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.
Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.
Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.
Care
Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.
How high will you sit?
The 4 in (10 cm) and 8 in (20 cm) sets are the everyday choices; 12 in (30 cm) and 16 in (40 cm) cushions are usually made to order.

Stacked cushions are separate pieces, not sewn together, so a top layer can come off and serve as an extra floor mattress for guests.

Do you have a plain, classic majlis style without heavy patterns or carved wood?
Plain, classic styles are available: velvet sets and solid-color floor seating with no carving or pattern, and many families choose a simple floor majlis with no visible wood at all. Ask for the velvet or plain collection, then choose the seat thickness and color.

What's the difference between your velvet sets and the patterned woven sets?
Velvet sets have a soft, smooth pile in solid colors, while patterned sets use a hard-wearing woven upholstery fabric with traditional motifs. For everyday family use, woven patterns hide marks more easily, and velvet feels plusher. Send a photo and we confirm which collection a set belongs to.

What's inside the cushion?
The seat foam is firm to medium-firm; softer or firmer filling can be requested.

Plain fabric is the easiest to cut to odd lengths, because no motif has to be centered on each piece. Without trim, the seams and piping carry the whole look, so they have to run straight. The modules follow the rules used across our majlis sets cut to wall length.
Which layouts suit a plain majlis: one wall, L or U?
Long single-wall runs show this design best, since nothing breaks the line of plain fabric. L and U layouts work the same way, with a corner piece where two walls meet. No single piece runs past 75 in (190 cm), and walls are split evenly: a 100 in (254 cm) wall becomes two seats of 50 in (127 cm).

All foam is my choice for this design. A frame adds nothing you can see here, and there is no wood, metal or spring inside a foam seat; the foam alone holds the shape. A wooden base still earns its place where a run has open floor behind it. Expect a firm to medium-firm sit. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.
Which plain fabrics and colors can it be made in?
Black and cream is one pairing among many. Each solid shade carries a number on our fabric card, so you can order one we have never photographed. Turkish velvet is the usual plain fabric, with chenille and linen-look weaves as flatter, calmer options. The weaves are compared on our fabrics page, and other plain rooms sit among the modern majlis designs.

What should you check before ordering?
- Is every wall measured along its base, end to end, in one unit?
- Does any side stand without a wall behind it?
- Should the black go on the seats, the backrests or both?
Send those answers with a photo of each wall. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval. Changes are easy at that stage and hard once the fabric is cut. Custom orders are photographed and filmed for your approval before they ship.

Does the Minimal majlis come with any gold at all?
The photographed room uses none. Gold accents can be added to most of our designs if you ask, but this one is shown and quoted in plain black and cream, with no metallic trim on seats, backrests or armrests.
Will cream pieces show marks sooner than black ones?
Light cream shows everyday marks sooner than black. If the room is used daily, put black on the seats and cream on the backrests. Covers unzip; check the care label of the fabric you choose.
Can a matching piece be added to this majlis later?
Single seats, backrests and covers can be ordered any time; ask us and quote the fabric code from your order so the new piece matches. Plain fabric makes a later addition simpler, since there is no pattern to line up.
