Why are they called French modern cushions?

The name describes a look rather than a place: crisp diamond and lattice repeats in two colors, piped edges, and a plain velvet base that gives the print room to breathe. The cushions themselves are made in our Istanbul atelier. The diamond repeat is often read as a modern answer to older lattice borders, and it holds its shape from across a room because each diamond is large enough to see at a glance.

How do printed cushions pair with a plain velvet floor sofa?

A two-color print sits best on a seat in one of its own colors, mustard diamonds on mustard velvet or burgundy lattice on burgundy velvet, so the cushions read as part of the set rather than an afterthought. On a busy kilim-weave set, a plain velvet cushion in the darkest shade of the pattern calms the run instead. Velvet floor sofas come in plain colors that take these prints well, and navy, maroon and green are the colors requested most often.

A reading corner usually needs fewer pieces than people expect: one floor seat cushion with two backrests, or a single ottoman cube, is often enough for a small nook. Window seats, dining benches and balconies take made-to-measure cushions, cut to the length and depth you send.

For a balcony, ask for the water-repellent outdoor fabric, which comes mostly in plain colors. The geometric prints are made for indoor rooms.

How are printed cushion covers cleaned?

Covers unzip; check the care notes for your fabric before the first wash. Keep them away from the dryer, since heat can shrink them. Covers can also be ordered on their own at any time, which is the easiest way to move a room from mustard to burgundy while the inserts stay.
