Premium Royal Star Yemeni Majlis in Light Gray and Charcoal

The Premium Royal Star Yemeni Majlis is a quilted-base gray majlis set with no gold, made of light gray seats and backrests on charcoal quilted bases, with black straps crossing each backrest. Plain gray backrests can replace the straps, and the quilted look comes all foam or on a wooden base at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), depending on the model.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

How high will you sit?

If someone at home finds low seats hard to get up from, choose 12 in (30 cm) or the 16 in (40 cm) sofa-height option; 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm) suits a classic floor-style room or a prayer room.

Can you combine two colors or match the seating to our brand colors?

Two-tone combinations and brand colors are standard requests, with one shade for the seats and another for the backrests or accent pieces, or pairings such as black with gold to echo a logo. Send a photo of the room with its floor and wall colors, and you see the proposed colors before production.

If I put seating on facing walls, how much floor space will be left in the middle of the room?

Open floor in the middle equals the room width minus twice the seat depth. Seats here are about 29.5 in (75 cm) deep, so a room 81 in (205 cm) wide keeps about 21.5 in (55 cm), enough for a narrow table. Tight rooms can go down to about 19.5 in (50 cm) to 23.5 in (60 cm).

The gray version follows the same made-to-measure build as our other Yemeni majlis designs, with the gold left off and the seat bases quilted in charcoal.

Why split the center table into several small ones?

I prefer a cluster of small tables when guests sit on three or four walls: everyone reaches a cup without leaning across a neighbor, and the pieces pull apart when the floor is needed. Cluster sets are made in three shapes, star, round or square, either as a center table with four satellites or as 5, 7 or 9 nesting pieces.

From the atelier: A buyer in the US answered an ad showing a U-shaped set and asked for a version fitted to their own room, with more small seat cushions and fewer long ones. They sketched the room but labeled the numbers as inches; our designer pointed out that one side would then be barely 6 in (15 cm) and confirmed the measurements were in feet. The buyer also wanted the single large ottoman split into four small tables, and our team checked with the tailor before agreeing, noting it would change the look. The final plan covered a layout of 72 in (183 cm) by 108 in (274 cm) by 115 in (293 cm) by 42 in (107 cm), with floor seating all round, backrests on every side, six armrests, three pouf pillows, a rug and the four-part ottoman. The discussion then moved to a phone call to go through the plan.

Which cool colors can the gray majlis be made in?

Solid colors come from a numbered color card, so the light gray can shift toward silver or a deeper charcoal; some patterned designs are not woven in true black, and dark charcoal is the usual stand-in. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

Can the gray majlis be made without the black cross straps?

Plain backrests in the same light gray can be quoted instead, since accents on a custom majlis can change while the model and layout stay the same. The layout drawing shows your version before anything is cut.

Can the gray majlis line all four walls of a square room?

Four walls work like three: each run is split into pieces of at most 75 in (190 cm), every inside corner gets a corner seat, and a gap stays at the door. At 29.5 in (75 cm) of depth per side, a room 217 in (550 cm) across keeps about 157 in (400 cm) of floor.

Is the charcoal quilted base possible on an all-foam build?

Most designs can be built all foam or on a wooden base. An all-foam build goes as low as 4 in (10 cm), a wooden-base build sits at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), and your layout drawing shows the quilted base on the build you pick.
