Which layout suits a British front room: a single run, an L or a U?

In a semi-detached or terraced front room the L is the usual answer: one run along the longest wall, a return along the next, and the corner worked out by the designer. How do you measure around a bay window and a low sill?

1. Mark the sill height and any radiator on a rough sketch first, because they decide the seat height and where a run stops.
2. Measure the straight walls corner to corner along the floor, skipping doorways, and write the unit beside every number.
3. Measure a bay as straight lines across each window section; a video call settles the curve.
4. If your tape is shorter than the longest wall, measure it in two parts and add them together.
5. Say whether each number is a wall length or a cushion length, then send one photo from each corner.

Which seat height works under a low front-room window?
