A family room with three clear walls takes a U, an apartment salon takes an L, and a home office takes a single run that stops where the desk begins. In a salon of 180 in (457 cm) square an L leaves a walkway and space for a table, while a full U closes the room in.

Floor level or sofa height: which seat suits a Kentucky living room?
