How many pieces make a U for a Nebraska living room?
A U needs one long back wall and two side walls, and a detached Nebraska house usually has all three in the living room. Each side run comes out shorter than its wall by about 27.5 in (70 cm), the depth of the back run that fills the corner. Most of Nebraska keeps Central time, so a morning note from Omaha reaches Istanbul by evening, and once your three lengths are settled, our notes on how delivery and import duties work for US addresses are the next thing to read.
| Piece | In a U | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Seat cushions | 3 | 75 × 27.5 in (190 × 70 cm) |
| Long backrests | 6 | 37.5 × 16 × 4 in (95 × 40 × 10 cm) |
| Corner backrests | 2 | 23.5 × 16 × 4 in (60 × 40 × 10 cm) |
| Armrest bolsters | 3 | 19.5 × 8 × 8 in (50 × 20 × 20 cm) |
| Ottoman table, full set | 1 | 23.5 × 23.5 × 8 in (60 × 60 × 20 cm) |
| Pouf pillows, full set | 3 | 27.5 × 19.5 in (70 × 50 cm) |
The seating alone is 14 pieces; the ottoman and pouf pillows bring a full U to 18, or 19 where a matching rug is included. Tables, rugs and curtains are add-ons you can leave off, and our guide to what a majlis set includes counts the same pieces for a single seat and an L.

Questions buyers ask
- Where are you located, and do you deliver to Omaha and the rest of Nebraska?
- The atelier is in Istanbul, Türkiye; delivery serves Nebraska addresses in Omaha, Lincoln and smaller towns alike. There is no warehouse or pickup point in the state. We don't have a showroom; ask us for a sample box or a video call.
- What is the real difference between 4 in (10 cm) and 8 in (20 cm) seat cushions?
- A 4 in (10 cm) seat sits close to the floor, the traditional majlis height. The 8 in (20 cm) seat doubles that, looks more like a sofa and is easier to rise from.
What should a U quote repeat back, and what happens in week one?
- Write the back wall and each side wall as three separate numbers; a quote that repeats one number three times has read your U as a square.
- Measure each side from the back wall to where seating should stop, so a closet or a doorway keeps its space.
- Say which numbers are wall sizes and which are the majlis you picture; the plan reads them differently.
- Leave a little room at each wall end, because foam forgives a measuring difference of up to about 2 in (5 cm).
The workshop sequence starts with cutting: fabric and foam are cut first, then the covers are sewn, and progress photos follow. Production time depends on your layout and the season — ask us for the current schedule. Our guide to measuring a room for a majlis has a worksheet for the three numbers.
A U counts 14 pieces of seating, and every one of them is listed with its size on the layout drawing before anything is cut.
Thin, thick or stacked: which seat suits a Nebraska family room?
Seats come in four thicknesses, 4 in (10 cm), 8 in (20 cm), 12 in (30 cm) and 16 in (40 cm), and the number sets how high you sit. The thinner two are the everyday choices; the thicker two are usually made to order. Our guide to floor sofa thickness and seat height puts all four side by side.
A seat of 8 in (20 cm) can be one solid block or two 4 in (10 cm) cushions stacked, and you say which you prefer when you order. Stacked layers are separate pieces, so the top one can lift off as a floor mattress when a guest stays over, and the three seat cushions of a U become six.

Which color suits the long indoor months, and how do covers stay fresh?
Most models can be made in any color from the fabric range, and gold accents are optional. A solid color is picked by number from our swatch card, so a shade we have not photographed yet is possible. Look at a shade in lamplight as well as daylight, since winter evenings are lit by lamps. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.
Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid heat, which can shrink them. Spare covers, single pieces and replacement foam can be ordered any time, so one worn seat never means a whole new set.
What arrives, and what should you do in the first hour?
Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed. A U arrives as a few boxes, each with its own tracking number, and they can land on different days. Open the bags within about a week of delivery. Then give the cushions about a day to recover their full shape before anyone sits.
Delivery to the US and Canada is by tracked express courier — ask us for the current transit estimate.
Import duties for US deliveries are set by US Customs — ask us how they apply to your order before you pay.
Central time covers most of the state; the western counties on Mountain time sit one hour further behind Istanbul.
| Where in Nebraska | Istanbul is ahead by | When it is noon there, Istanbul reads |
|---|---|---|
| Central time, summer | 8 hours | 8 p.m. |
| Central time, winter | 9 hours | 9 p.m. |
| Mountain time, summer | 9 hours | 9 p.m. |
| Mountain time, winter | 10 hours | 10 p.m. |
Who makes up Nebraska's Arab community, and what do their homes look like?
Iraqi families form the largest Arab group in Nebraska, and Sudanese, Somali and Afghan households are counted separately in the same census table.
| Place | What the figures show | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Nebraska | About 8,725 residents report Arab ancestry, about 0.44% | ACS 5-year |
| Nebraska | About 12,986 counted as Middle Eastern or North African, about 0.66% | 2020 Census |
| Nebraska | Iraqi is the largest Arab ancestry, about 2,638; Lebanese about 2,110 | ACS 5-year |
| Nebraska | Sudanese about 4,053, Somali about 2,062, Afghan about 1,729 | ACS 5-year |
| Nebraska homes | 71.3% single-family detached, 66.5% owner-occupied, median year built 1975 | ACS 5-year |
| Omaha | January high about 34°F (1°C), July high about 88°F (31°C), about 27 in (69 cm) of snow a year | Station normals 1991-2020 |
Porch weather lasts from May to October: what changes after that?
From May to October the average high in Omaha stays between 64°F (18°C) and 90°F (32°C), so a covered porch can hold floor seating for about six months. Standard upholstery is for indoor rooms; for a porch, ask about the water-repellent outdoor fabric, mostly in plain colors.
NAHB's analysis of Census construction data found that about 62% of single-family starts in the West North Central division had a basement, so a basement room is a realistic winter home for a U once the porch season ends.
Local questions
Does a U set arrive with the foam inside, or only the covers?
Sets arrive as complete cushions, with the foam already inside the zippered covers. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build. Covers can also be ordered without foam, for example to refresh a set in a new color.
Can a design I saw on a standard set be cut to my room's lengths?
Most models can be made in colors from the fabric range. The selected model determines whether its pattern and dimensions can be adapted to your walls. Send its name or a photo, and the designer confirms the fabric before the drawing is final.
My room is about 157 in (400 cm) square. How many seat pieces is that?
No seat is longer than about 75 in (190 cm), so each wall splits into equal pieces: the back wall takes three of about 52 in (133 cm), and each side, shortened by 27.5 in (70 cm) to 130 in (330 cm), takes two of 65 in (165 cm). That is seven seats.
