Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

How high will you sit?

If someone at home finds low seats hard to get up from, choose 12 in (30 cm) or the 16 in (40 cm) sofa-height option; 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm) suits a classic floor-style room or a prayer room.

Questions buyers ask

What's the difference between upholstered sponge tables and wooden tables for a majlis?

Sponge tables are firm foam blocks covered in the majlis fabric, so they match exactly and weigh less. Wooden tables are separate pieces with a traditional furniture look. Sponge tables can also be made taller to suit raised seats.

What else can I add to a majlis to complete the room? Do you also sell dining sets?

Dining tables and dining sets aren't part of the range; the workshop focuses on majlis and floor seating. Common additions are a full-foam ottoman table, a matching rug, pouf pillows and extra armrests, and any of them can be skipped.

Counts follow your walls, so a small L and a full hall share piece names but not totals. Quotes work as for all Yemeni majlis seating made to your walls: seating first, then tables, rug and curtains as extra lines.

Will a cluster of cube tables leave a clear path between the seats?

Open floor between two facing runs equals the width of the room less two seat depths: at about 29.5 in (75 cm) a side, a room 157 in (400 cm) wide keeps about 98 in (250 cm), and the cubes stand inside that.

I keep one long side of the tables free for the coffee tray. The cubes in the photo were chosen for that room; matching sets come as a center table with four smaller ones or as nesting sets of 5, 7 or 9, in star, round or square shapes.

How high off the floor can the ivory jalsah be built?

A wooden base stays at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm) and is not made lower. With grandparents and small children in the same room, I would give at least one wall a 12 in (30 cm) seat. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

How much gold does the ivory jalsah need?

None, if you prefer: gold accents are optional, and every plain shade has its own number on the fabric card. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

Which checks should you make from the doorway before ordering?

Which rug sizes fit inside an ivory jalsah layout?

Stock rugs come in sizes between 31.5 × 79 in (80 × 200 cm) and 79 × 118 in (200 × 300 cm), but not every design is made in every size. Measure the open floor between the seat edges first, since the rug sits inside it.

How many guests fit along a 150 in (380 cm) wall of the ivory jalsah?

A 150 in (380 cm) wall takes two seat pieces of 75 in (190 cm), each seating two to three people, so plan on four to six guests; armrests and corners change that a little.

Is it worth ordering a spare set of ivory covers with the seating?

Covers are sold without foam as well, so a spare ivory set can sit in a cupboard for the months with the most guests. Keep your layout drawing, because each cover is cut to its own piece.
