Arabic Sofa and Majlis Sets for Arkansas Homes, Small Rooms Included

Six adults on a long evening need about 150 in (380 cm) of seating, which a standard L of two seat cushions provides, so an Arabic sofa in Arkansas can serve a small living room when the middle of the floor stays open. The designer plans the seats, the ottoman table and the rug around that open floor, and the sewing is done in Istanbul.

Which layout leaves the middle of a small room open: a run, an L or a U?

Houses dominate here: in the Census Bureau's ACS 5-year estimates, 70.0% of Arkansas homes are single-family detached and only 3.5% sit in buildings of 20 or more units, so a small room is usually a room in a house. Seat height is the next choice, and the four heights from 4 in (10 cm) to 16 in (40 cm) are compared in our guide to seat heights and import steps for US orders. The floor sofa sets come in the same three shapes.

Questions buyers ask

I have a small room. Can a complete majlis with a rug and ottoman table fit without crowding it?
A small room can take a complete set when the seating follows the walls and the middle stays open: a U of standard seat cushions lines three short walls, one ottoman table of 23.5 × 23.5 × 8 in (60 × 60 × 20 cm) sits in the center, and the rug is sized to the open floor rather than to the whole room. Ask the designer to set the 4 in (10 cm) build beside the 8 in (20 cm) build in one plan, so you can compare them.
Which details do you need to quote one room delivered to Arkansas?
Three things make a one-room quote: the length of each wall measured along the floor, the model or a photo of the look you want, and the seat height. Add your delivery ZIP code, and mention any door or window the seating must leave clear.

How much floor is left in the middle once the seats are in?

  1. Start with the middle: measure the open floor between two facing walls, because that is what a small room runs out of first.
  2. Subtract the seat depth on each side: a 118 in (300 cm) room with seats on both long walls keeps 63 in (160 cm) open at the usual 27.5 in (70 cm) depth, or 71 in (180 cm) at 23.5 in (60 cm).
  3. A narrow room can take a shallower seat, about 19.5 in (50 cm) to 23.5 in (60 cm), and a deeper one, up to about 33.5 in (85 cm), is made on request.
  4. Mark each door swing and window the seating must leave clear.
  5. Send the wall lengths with a labeled sketch and the seat height you want.

Which fabrics keep a small room calm: plain velvet, linen or a pattern on the pillows?

Plain fabrics sit beside the printed sets: velvet, and linen weaves with a soft texture, with solid colors picked by number from the fabric color card. In a small room a plain seat lets the walls rest, and a pattern can come back through a few pillows or the rug; the navy velvet set in the photo keeps its seat plain and puts the pattern on the pillows.

What do the census and the weather say about an Arkansas living room?

The ACS 5-year estimates from the Census Bureau rank Lebanese, 'Other Arab' (the line that includes Yemeni and Saudi families) and Egyptian households first, second and third among Arkansas's Arab groups.

A patio set uses the water-repellent outdoor range, which comes mostly in plain colors; regular upholstery stays indoors. Neighboring Oklahoma and Missouri have their own pages.

How does an Arkansas shop start: a sample box, one display set or both?

Dealers and resellers are among the buyers we serve, display sets included. A shop can start with a single display set to show its own customers. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

Keep the model name and the fabric code the same on every reorder, so new pieces match the first ones. Terms are agreed on a quote. Ask us about freight options for large and commercial orders.

How many boxes does a set need, and what time is it in Istanbul?

Arkansas has no warehouse stock or sales agent; orders are made in Istanbul. Larger layouts need more boxes than an L, each box is tracked on its own, and the boxes may arrive on separate days. Arkansas keeps US Central time, so Istanbul is 8 to 9 hours ahead. The delivery page covers couriers, transit and import duties country by country.

Delivery to the US and Canada is by tracked express courier — ask us for the current transit estimate.

Ask us

For US deliveries we prepay import duties and the courier's customs fees, so there's nothing to pay at your door. If a courier ever asks you for a duty or fee on this order, send us the notice and we'll settle it.

Local questions

Does the quote include the rug and center table, or are they separate?

Seating, tables and rugs are separate lines on a majlis quote, so name each one you want, give the open floor area for the rug and say which table style you like: four small tables around a center piece, a round group of wedges or one ottoman.

Which seat suits a small room better, 4 in (10 cm) or 8 in (20 cm)?

4 in (10 cm) sits lowest and keeps the room feeling open, while 8 in (20 cm) is a higher everyday seat and is easier to get up from. Ask the designer to set both builds in one plan, so you can compare them against your own walls.

How much floor does the center ottoman table take?

The ottoman table is a foam block of 23.5 × 23.5 × 8 in (60 × 60 × 20 cm), made to match the seating: about 8 in (20 cm) high on standard sets and up to 16 in (40 cm) beside a raised majlis. It takes little floor in the middle of a small room, and its footprint can be customized.
