Which layout suits a Hawaii condo, a family house or a lanai?

Just over half of Hawaii's homes are detached houses, so the first question is which room, and whether the lanai joins the plan. A condo living room usually takes an L or one straight run, while a house can carry a U. Questions buyers ask

Do you deliver to Hawaii, or only to the mainland?: Hawaii is included: sets are delivered to island addresses as well as mainland ones, and every box gets its own tracking number when the order ships. Delivery costs depend on your country and order size — your quote shows them before you pay.
Our walls meet at about 120 degrees, not at a right angle. Can a corner set still work?: Angled corners can be made. Send each wall length, the angle where the walls meet and a rough sketch, and the designer shapes the corner piece so both runs close neatly.

How do you measure a condo wall around a lanai slider and an odd angle?

Measure each seating wall along the floor, corner to corner, in one unit.
Where a lanai slider or the entry door sits on a seating wall, measure from the corner to the door frame.
For a corner that is not square, write down the angle; a phone measuring app is enough.
Mark wall air-conditioning units, low windows and outlets.
Send the sketch with one photo from each corner, labeling wall lengths and seat lengths.

How low should the seat be: 4 in (10 cm), 8 in (20 cm) or sofa height?

A 4 in (10 cm) seat is the classic floor cushion, easy to lift when you sweep underneath, and a 8 in (20 cm) seat feels softer for a room used every evening. If an older relative finds low seats hard to rise from, a raised majlis at 16 in (40 cm) sits at about the height of a regular sofa; raised seats measure 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), depending on the model.

Lanai or living room: which fabric belongs where?

Honolulu's average high sits near 81°F (27°C) in January and 88°F (31°C) in July, so seating gets used indoors and out in every month. For a covered lanai, ask for our outdoor seating range; linen suits warm indoor rooms, and velvet is the richer choice for a room away from direct sun.

Can a long seat come in two pieces, and can an ottoman be sized to the room?

No single seat piece runs longer than about 75 in (190 cm), so a lounge seat of about 90 in (229 cm) is made as two halves that butt together. One island lounge remodel in dark green and brown was planned that way, and shorter pieces are easier to carry and line up.

The standard ottoman table is 23.5 × 23.5 × 8 in (60 × 60 × 20 cm), and its footprint can change to suit a long, narrow lounge, in the seat fabric so the set reads as one piece. Rugs and ottomans can also be ordered on their own; tell the team which designs and how many, keeping in mind that not every rug size is made in every design.

What happens when a set is delivered to an island address?

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed, then boxed, and every box gets its own tracking number when the order ships. Boxes may land on different days, so check each number before you worry about a missing piece, and give the foam about a day to recover once the bag is open.

Can a lanai set stay out all year, and how often do covers need a wash?

On a covered lanai, mostly yes: Honolulu's comfortable months never run out, and the city gets only about 16.5 in (42 cm) of rain a year. Bring the cushions in before a stormy spell.

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle. Dry them flat in the shade rather than in a dryer, because heat can shrink them, and check the label for each fabric first. Local questions

Is a small L practical in a nook of about 60 in (152 cm) by 60 in (152 cm)?

A compact L works there when both runs are cut to the walls, since a standard 75 in (190 cm) seat would be too long for either side. Leaving the armrest off the inner corner keeps the seat usable right into the angle.

Where does the set ship from, and does it wait in a mainland warehouse first?

There is no mainland warehouse or local stock; each set is made in our Istanbul atelier. Boxes can arrive on different days, so check every tracking number, not only the first one.

Can I choose earth tones such as dark green and brown?

Dark green, brown and other earth tones are available. Send a daylight photo of the room, and the designer suggests fabric pairs for the seats, backrests and rug. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.
