L-shaped majlis and floor sofa sets
Two walls meeting at a corner, about 75 in (190 cm) and 102 in (260 cm) long, take a standard L-shaped floor sofa: two 75 in (190 cm) seat cushions, one of them starting about 27.5 in (70 cm) out from the corner. Fourteen pieces make up the full set, which seats five or six adults, and other wall lengths are cut to order.

Can one side of my L be much shorter than the other, for a wall of about 49 in (125 cm)?
Each side of an L is sized on its own, so one side can match a wall of about 49 in (125 cm) while the main wall carries the longest run. Only the foam and covers are cut to your lengths; model and fabric stay the same. Send a sketch with both walls and any door, and the layout is confirmed before production.
How many armrests come with an L-shaped set, and can more be added?
A standard L-shaped set has two armrest bolsters, one at each open end. On a custom L the designer spaces armrests so the seating never looks crowded, and you can ask for more, such as one between seats, in the same fabric.
Which 14 pieces come in the L-shaped full set, and which are seating?

The seating alone is nine pieces; the rug, ottoman and pouf pillows complete the full set. Seats come in four thicknesses from 4 in (10 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), and two stacked 4 in (10 cm) layers per seat bring the count to 16.
Which two wall lengths take a standard L without any cutting?
Walls of about 75 in (190 cm) and 102 in (260 cm) take the standard L as it comes. The seat on the shorter wall runs into the corner, and the seat on the longer wall begins one seat depth from it, so that wall needs 27.5 in (70 cm) more than its seat.

Longer walls are split into equal pieces of up to about 75 in (190 cm), and the foam absorbs a measuring difference of about 2 in (5 cm). Taking both lengths is covered in our majlis measuring guide.
How is a custom L divided when both walls are longer than standard?
On a custom L, one wall keeps its full length and the other loses about 27.5 in (70 cm) at the corner. The corner goes to whichever wall gives fewer pieces, sometimes the shorter one:

Leftover length under about 16 in (40 cm) stays open rather than becoming a sliver of seat.

How many guests does a standard L seat, and how many more on longer walls?
Five to six adults sit comfortably on a standard L, and seven when everyone squeezes in. The planner allows about 23.5 in (60 cm) of seat per person, so the 150 in (380 cm) of a standard L gives six places. When I sketch an L, I count the everyday sitters first and the weekend guests second.
What if one wall is short, or the room could take more than an L?
A short wall rarely rules out an L, since the second run can take a half-length seat of about 37.5 in (95 cm). Other routes keep the same fabric:
- One straight run on the longest wall, with the ottoman facing it
- Shallower seats of about 19.5 in (50 cm) to 23.5 in (60 cm) on both walls, which hand back open floor

Which patterns and fabrics come as an L-shaped set?

Does every L-shaped set count 14 pieces?
The patterned full set counts 14, and nine of those are seating. With stacked seats the count rises to 16, and the Solid Velvet L has 18 because it uses square back pillows. A custom L counts what its walls need.
Does it matter which way the L turns, left or right?
For the standard set the pieces are separate, so the same set can turn either way. On a custom L the two runs are cut to different lengths, so say which wall is longer and which side the corner falls on.
Which side of an L carries the corner backrest?
The corner backrest goes on the run that passes through the corner, which on a standard L is the seat on the shorter wall. At 23.5 × 16 × 4 in (60 × 40 × 10 cm), it stands on the end of that seat against the other wall, and the backrests of the longer run begin right after it.
