Which layout suits a Saudi family hall: an L, a U or seating on four sides?
In many Saudi homes the evening gathering sets the size of the majlis and the hall follows, so a plan rarely starts from a single sofa: at about 60 cm (23.5 in) of seat per guest, twenty relatives along the walls need roughly 1200 cm (472 in) of seating. The table turns the room sizes families describe most often into a layout. A set of that length travels as a stack of vacuum-packed boxes, and the courier and customs steps for the Kingdom are summarized in our delivery and customs notes for each country.
| Room as families describe it | Layout | What the designer counts |
|---|---|---|
| About 300 × 300 cm (118 × 118 in), one corner | L | Two runs, a corner backrest and armrests at both open ends |
| About 500 × 400 cm (197 × 157 in), two corners | U | Seven floor mattresses (three on the back wall, two on each side) with their backrests and bolsters |
| About 900 × 500 cm (354 × 197 in), three corners | Wooden modules with fillers | How 190 cm (75 in) bench modules divide each wall |
| About 1000 × 1000 cm (394 × 394 in), sides open to the house | Four sides with back panels | Which walls are solid and which are open |

Questions buyers ask
- What foam firmness, the daght, do you use, and will the seat feel like a traditional Saudi majlis?
- The foam is firm and high-density, so the seat keeps its height under daily sitting, the upright feel expected of a Gulf majlis. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build. Covers close with zips rather than glue, so the foam can be checked later, and a short video of someone sitting on your chosen model shows firmness better than a number.
- Which courier brings the set to Saudi Arabia, and what address details does it need?
- Sets travel with an international courier whose own network handles the final leg inside the Kingdom, so no local courier account or post office box is needed. How customs are handled is stated on your quote. Each box gets a tracking number when it ships; add your national address short code so the driver can find the house without calling.
How do you measure a hall with open sides or three corners?
- Number every wall on a paper sketch and write its length from corner to corner.
- Mark which sides are solid walls and which open onto the rest of the house.
- Draw each door, window and corner; a three-corner room needs a corner piece at every turn.
- For wooden bases, ask how the 190 cm (75 in) modules divide each wall and where a cushion-only filler closes the gap.
The printable room-measuring guide explains each line of the sketch, and the majlis planner counts corners and pieces from your numbers.
Why do many Saudi families ask for ghat wahid, one solid 20 cm (8 in) layer?
A 20 cm (8 in) seat made as one thick layer, the ghat wahid many families ask for, gives the firm, upright sitting of a traditional majlis and suits long evenings over coffee and dates. A 30 cm (12 in) seat brings older guests closer to chair height while the line along the walls stays low.
Which pieces does a Saudi majlis order list, from tarraha to marka?
In many Saudi homes a majlis is described one piece at a time, in words shared across the Gulf, and answering in the same words saves a round of questions. The vocabulary keeps the old logic of the room: a mattress to sit on, a back to lean on, a bolster for the elbow.
| Word | Piece | Standard size |
|---|---|---|
| Tarraha | Floor mattress, the seat | 190 × 70 cm (75 × 27.5 in); longer walls split into equal pieces |
| Masnad | Backrest | 95 × 40 × 10 cm (37.5 × 16 × 4 in), with 60 × 40 × 10 cm (23.5 × 16 × 4 in) in corners |
| Marka | Armrest bolster | 50 × 20 × 20 cm (19.5 × 8 × 8 in) |
| Ghat wahid | One solid seat layer | 20 cm (8 in) in a single piece |
| Daght | Foam firmness | Stated on your quote |
Spare and extra pieces are listed one by one under floor cushions and spare majlis pieces.
How do you pay safely and avoid a look-alike store?
Look-alike stores copy majlis photos and advertisements, so a few checks before paying protect the order.
- Start from this site's address, typed in yourself, rather than a link inside an ad.
- Use only the WhatsApp number and email shown on the contact page.
- Expect a quote that names your measurements and fabric code before any payment link arrives.
- Check that the web address on the payment page matches the site you started from.
We never ask for card numbers, security codes or one-time passcodes by chat, email or phone.
How does delivery to Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province work?
Orders are vacuum-sealed into boxes in Istanbul, usually two or three for an L and more for a full hall, and the boxes may arrive on different days. Foam seats are ready to use once unpacked; for wooden modules, ask the team how your model travels.
Delivery to the Gulf is by tracked express courier — ask us for the current estimate for your country.
Import taxes depend on your country's rules — ask us how they apply to your order before you pay.
Saudi Arabia and Istanbul both keep UTC+3 all year, so a design call happens in ordinary daytime hours on both sides, with no clock to convert.
Where do Saudi families live, and how are their homes built?
The figures behind a Saudi plan concern people and climate as much as rooms: a large national population, three very different regional climates, and summers that keep the majlis indoors for half the year.
| Place | What the figures show | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | About 32.2 million residents in the 2022 Census | GASTAT |
| Saudi Arabia | Saudi nationals about 58.4% of residents, mid-2022 | GLMM |
| Saudi households | About 4.4 million homes, about 4.9 people per household | GASTAT via Argaam |
| Saudi households | About 45% apartments, 31% villas, 12.4% traditional houses, 10.8% floors within houses | GASTAT via Argaam |
| Riyadh | January low about 7°C (45°F), July high about 43°C (109°F) | Station normals |
| Jeddah | January high about 29°C (84°F), July high about 39°C (102°F) | Station normals |
| Dammam | July high about 45°C (113°F), January low about 10°C (50°F) | Station normals |

When can a majlis go outdoors, and when should a Ramadan jalsa be ordered?
Riyadh and Dammam have about five months, November to March, with average highs between 18°C (64°F) and 32°C (90°F), while Jeddah's warmer winter leaves about four, December to March. Outside those months floor seating belongs indoors or in deep shade.
A floor sofa set is a kit of loose pieces, so it can be laid out for Ramadan evenings and stacked away after Eid: wash the zipped covers before storing and keep the foam flat in a dry room.

What does a Saudi purchase order need from a workshop in Türkiye?
Trade requests from the Kingdom often come from trading or contracting companies quoting for a client, and a purchase order usually needs an item list in millimeters, a material specification and the vendor documents the client's system asks for. The team confirms which documents a workshop registered in Türkiye can issue before you submit anything. State whether lengths such as 203 cm (80 in), 102 cm (40 in) and 163 cm (64 in) mean one connected U or three separate sofas, since the corner count changes. Institutional orders start from our majlis for organizations and events.
Local questions
How do buyers in Saudi Arabia pay for a set made in Istanbul?
Payment is made through a secure payment link once you approve your quote — ask us which methods are available in your country. Ask us whether pay-over-time options are available in your country. Use only a payment link that reaches you through the contact channels listed on this site, never one from an advertisement.
I'm in Makkah for Hajj. Is there a representative there who sells or rents a majlis?
There is no representative, stock or rental service in Makkah or anywhere else in the Kingdom; each set is made in Istanbul. A visitor whose home country is on our delivery list can order after returning and have the set delivered there.
We may move back home in a few years. Is a majlis easy to take with us?
Full-foam sets travel best: there is no wooden or MDF back to dismantle, and the light pieces pack into boxes or large bags. Ask the team for the box count and packed weight of your exact layout before planning luggage, because airline limits vary. Wooden-back models suit a home you plan to keep.
