Turkish Mosaic Lamps for a Majlis Room

Small pieces of colored glass set into a metal frame turn a Turkish mosaic lamp into a source of patterned light, so a lit lamp scatters color across the walls of a majlis corner. The table design stands about 16 in (40 cm) tall with a glass globe roughly 5 in (13 cm) across, in seven patterns that share one footed base.

Questions buyers ask

Can I get Turkish lamps with my order?

Decor pieces are available alongside the seating, including mosaic lamps and floor lamps that hold a cluster of glass globes on one stand. Lamp designs change with stock, so send a photo of the one you like and the team confirms availability.

Should a mosaic table lamp stand on the floor or on a side table next to a majlis?

Majlis seats are made 4 in (10 cm), 8 in (20 cm), 12 in (30 cm) or 16 in (40 cm) high, and the mosaic table lamp stands about 16 in (40 cm) tall. Beside a low seat it can stand on the floor and keep its light at seat level, while beside a higher seat a side table lifts it closer to the people sitting there.

Which Turkish mosaic lamps can you order?

The table lamp is the steady design, made in seven glass patterns on the same footed base and onion-dome cap. Floor lamps that hold a cluster of glass globes on one stand, and hanging lanterns, change with stock, so send a photo of the one you like and the team confirms it. Lamps are ordered alongside the seating in all our majlis and floor sofa designs.

Which glass patterns does the mosaic table lamp come in?

The mosaic table lamp comes in seven glass patterns, from a red and orange star to mixed-color triangles, and all seven sit on the same base.

PatternMain glass colorsMotif
Flame Starred and orangestar
Cobalt Zigzagbluezigzag band
Sunset Zigzagorange with bluezigzag band
Sunburstyellow on a blue rimstar burst
Saffron Diamondred and yellowdiamonds
Emerald Zigzaggreenzigzag band
Harlequin Trianglesmixed colorstriangles

Lit at night, the glass throws its pattern far beyond the globe, while in daylight it reads as a small jeweled object on a side table. I would choose the pattern for the evening, when the lamp is actually on. Warm patterns such as the star and the diamonds suit a red or maroon majlis, and the cool zigzags sit easily beside navy, gray or green seating.

How big is the mosaic table lamp, and which bulb does it take?

The table lamp stands about 16 in (40 cm) tall, with a glass globe roughly 5 in (13 cm) across on a footed metal base in an antique bronze tone. Lamps for the US and Canada take an E12 bulb and lamps for the UK and Europe an E14, and the team confirms the socket and plug of each design before the order is finalized.

  • Lamp height: about 16 in (40 cm), base to cap
  • Glass globe: roughly 5 in (13 cm) across
  • Majlis seats beside it: 4 in (10 cm), 8 in (20 cm), 12 in (30 cm) or 16 in (40 cm) high
  • Top of a 16 in (40 cm) backrest on a 4 in (10 cm) seat: about 19.5 in (50 cm) from the floor

Set on the floor beside a low seat, the lamp stays below the line of the backrests, which keeps the light soft at seat level. On the higher seats, a side table lifts it closer to the faces of the people sitting there.

Where does a mosaic lamp work best in a majlis room?

A mosaic lamp works best where its colored light lands on a plain surface, such as a pale wall at the corner where two runs of seating meet. The wall becomes a second, larger copy of the glass pattern. The short corner backrest there, 23.5 × 16 × 4 in (60 × 40 × 10 cm), leaves most of that wall bare for the light. Under warm bulbs ivory turns to honey, and under cool ones it drifts toward gray.

I would keep one lamp to a corner in a home majlis rather than a row of them, so each pool of color stays distinct. For a café or restaurant, plan the lanterns together with the seating that Arabic majlis for cafés sets out wall by wall.

Swan neck, ewer or crescent: which lamp shape suits which spot?

A swan-neck lamp suits a side table where light should fall on one seat, an ewer-shaped lamp suits a low shelf or the floor, and a crescent base suits a reading corner. These shapes change with stock, so each one is confirmed from a photo.

  • Swan neck: a curved arm that bends the globe over a table
  • Ewer: a body shaped like a pitcher, glowing from top to base
  • Hammered: a textured metal base under the glass, for an earthier look
  • Crescent: a base curved like a new moon, holding a single globe

Which floor seating sits well beside a mosaic lamp?

Plain seating sits best beside a multicolor lamp, while a patterned kilim seat looks calmer next to a lamp in one or two glass colors. On the floor, one of our kilim rugs in a color taken from the lamp ties the corner together. Arabic floor sofa sets come in single, L-shaped and U-shaped runs of 10, 14 and 19 pieces, so a lamp can stand at the open end of a single run or in the corner of an L.

Frequently asked questions

Which bulb fits the mosaic table lamp?

Table lamps made for the US and Canada take an E12 bulb, and lamps for the UK and Europe take an E14. Fittings are confirmed design by design, so ask the team to check the socket of your chosen lamp when you order and keep a spare bulb of the same type.

Are the floor lamps and hanging lanterns always available?

Floor lamps with a cluster of globes and hanging lanterns change with stock, so their designs are not fixed the way the table lamp's seven patterns are. Send a photo of the design you like, and the team confirms whether it can be supplied and how many globes it carries.

Do all seven table lamp patterns share the same base?

All seven patterns sit on the same footed metal base with an onion-dome cap, so two lamps match even when their glass differs. That makes it easy to place two patterns on either side of a seat and still have the pair read as one.
