Green Star Royal Yemeni Majlis in Emerald Velvet

Black-and-gold baroque bands along the base give the Green Star Royal its weight: an emerald velvet Yemeni majlis with green seats, gold-striped backrests and fringed bolsters at the end of each run. Runs are cut wall by wall as an L, a U or a full hall, and the gold stripes on the 16 in (40 cm) backrests are optional.

Cushions are pressed, rolled and vacuum-sealed for shipping and spring back to full size once you open them; they can't be re-compressed at home.

Your set ships in several boxes, typically two or three for an L-shape and more for larger layouts, and they may arrive on different days.

Every box gets its own tracking number, emailed as soon as your order ships.

Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice that lists the goods, their value, weight and materials.

Care

Covers unzip and can be machine-washed on a gentle 86°F (30°C) cycle with a mild detergent; avoid heat, which can shrink them.

Questions buyers ask

Can the Green Star Royal sit on a wooden frame instead of being all foam?

Like most designs, it comes either as all-foam modules or with an MDF and wood frame under the foam seats. The framed version settles at 14.5 in (37 cm) to 16 in (40 cm), depending on the model, and goes no lower, so floor-level seating should stay foam.

Do the marble-look tables and the medallion rug come with the Green Star Royal?

What you are quoted for is the seating: seat cushions, backrests, armrests in either of two styles and the pillows to match, all filled and covered. The nesting tables, the rug and the curtains in the photos are add-ons, included only if you ask.

How high will you sit?

If someone at home finds low seats hard to get up from, choose 12 in (30 cm) or the 16 in (40 cm) sofa-height option; 4 in (10 cm) to 8 in (20 cm) suits a classic floor-style room or a prayer room.

Most raised majlis designs can also be made at 8 in (20 cm), keeping the same look at half the height.

Many Yemeni and Gulf guest rooms are furnished from the walls inward, leaving the floor open for a rug and a low table. Within our Yemeni majlis sets made for each room, the Green Star Royal keeps its ornament low, in a printed band below every seat.

How does the baroque band follow an L, a U or a whole hall?

Each wall is divided into equal seats of no more than 75 in (190 cm), so a 146 in (370 cm) wall becomes two 73 in (185 cm) pieces and the band lines up from one to the next. A corner seat fills each angle. Custom orders start with a layout plan for your approval.

The gold-lattice tables and swagged curtains belong to the photographed room, not to the order, and more rooms in that spirit sit under palace-style rooms with baroque bases.

Floor level or sofa height: which suits the elders in your family?

Many families who grew up with floor seating still want the low line, while grandparents often prefer a seat they can rise from easily.

I would choose 12 in (30 cm) for a room shared by three generations. The seats are firm to medium-firm. Seats use high-density polyurethane foam — ask us for the exact density for your build.

Can the emerald and gold be made in another color?

Green is among the colors families ask for most, with navy and maroon, but any shade on our numbered fabric card can replace it, and the gold stripes are optional. Ask us about fabric swatches and a foam sample before you order.

What happens between your first sketch and the first evening in the room?

Measure each seating wall at floor height, corner to corner, without the doorways.
Send the lengths in any unit, with a rough sketch and a photo from each corner.
Say which seat height you want and whether the gold stripes stay.

Can the gold stripes on the green backrests be left off?

Gold accents are optional on most of our models, so the backrests can be plain emerald while the baroque band stays on the base. Mark the change on your sketch and it appears on the layout drawing.

What if a wall measurement for the Green Star Royal is slightly off?

Small slips of up to about 2 in (5 cm) are absorbed by the foam at the wall ends. Anything bigger is worth a second measurement, because each piece is cut to the exact lengths you send.

Can one emerald piece be replaced years later if it is damaged?

Spare seats, backrests, armrests and corner pieces can be made to match later, and so can new foam or fresh covers. Keep the layout drawing, since it records the fabric code, the seat height and every piece size.
